Rear Side Mirror Tilt Down Time Limitations

Is there a way to have the right side mirror stay tilted down when reversing for longer than... I think about 30 seconds?

Makes no sense that the car decides I'm done with the need for that feature while I'm still squeezing my car into the garage tightly against the right wall while backing in. I have a M6 and usually have to shift to N and then back to R to re-engage the tilt down feature while backing in.

What! I didn't even know it had that feature. Do you activate it by just choosing either of the side mirror side selectors and then go in reverse?

See Manual page 46
The mirror(s) return to the original position when:
. The vehicle is shifted out of R (Reverse), or remains in R (Reverse) for about 30 seconds.
. The ignition is turned off.
. The vehicle is driven in R (Reverse) above a set speed.

Yes, following options are available.
Select Off, On - Driver and Passenger, On - Driver, or On - Passenger.

I know that the rear view mirrors focus downward at a predetermine level. You can make them lower manually but that position is not retained. Is there a way to keep the "lower" position that was set manually?
Is so, how would you go about doing that?
Thanks in advance

I have these at the bottom corner of the side mirrors. No need for tilt. Very helpful when backing into a parking spot next to the curb and getting as close as I can... and into the garage.

Thanks. I thought I read somewhere about the 30 seconds limitation.

Seems odd that the car will decide I don't need the tilt down after 30 seconds.

I guess it assumes we drive fast in all directions?

I used to use this, but noticed that it stopped going back all the way to the memory position...really odd but it was annoying that I had to readjust them every time, even holding memory button down wouldn't work, was very weird.

Not all trim packages have the reverse tilting mirrors. On pg47 of the manual it says you need the memory seat option to have the reverse tilting mirrors.

I think this feature is only available for models with the convenience and lighting package. If you want to check if you have it..look under comfort and convenience option in the radio. It can be found under vehicle.
