Oil filter question
I just want to change oil filter without dumping
All the oil in crankcase, if I just spin off oil filter Should I expect a flood of oil, or just drips? |

You're changing only the oil filter? Any reason why, just wondering.
You're probably going to have the same amount coming out as if you were taking all 10 quarts out and back in. But I would still be ready for a steady stream. You can get a big ziplock bag and hold it up while it drains but I can't say for certain if it'll only be a quart or way more. |

Hmm, I’m changing oil filter in between oil changes
Because I have it on lift to do the exhaust and While it’s up there, I’ll change filter, but need to Know if any oil, or how much, because Mobil 1 0/40 ESP ( dextrose) is not available near me Except online. |

It's going to lose a significant amount because there is a good bit of oil that does stay in the oil filter.
If this is a regular thing you do, you'll need to start having 2 quarts (at least) sitting on the side. |

The filter is small, maybe it’ll hold
8-12 oz. ( that’s what I fill it when I install New filter)…vehicle holds approximately 10qts,and I recently changed it, and as I said 0/40 esp mobile 1 is extremely rare, and hard to get In my area. |

no need to change the filter between oil changes for good measure, or whatever. the filter is fine. you just have more potential for issues, running low on oil, spilling, etc., for no reason. |

Only one way to find out how much will come out. If you are having a hard time finding the oil then why do it at all?
I wouldn't change the oil filter without changing the oil as well. Never have just changed the oil filter. I could see why but you are still running the exact same oil the old filter was filtering......it's like I changed my underwear because I sharted but I didn't wipe my ass, you know? I was just saying while I was under there changing exhaust
It would only take a minute to swap out oil filter , it’s not often I get a chance on lift. It’s always nice to have a clean pair Of underwear between shits! |

Most people aren't going to know the answer to this, because this is not common practice. Why change underwear every shit? Its just more laundry . I think most would take the "if it aint broke dont fix it" approach in this situation.
