Exhaust Sound Levels

Hello,

I’m getting Kooks Headers and Corse Extreme installed. I can spend the extra $700 for the NPP sound control but I really don’t want to. Here’s my issue…I would like to track this car but I know that most tracks have sound decibel requirements. This is my dilemma. Get the NPP to be safe and have as a back up if my 1LE is too loud in track mode? I would never use it otherwise. Please help!

I know you're not supposed to run the car at full throttle with the exhaust in quiet mode with the stock NPP setup. The car actually opens the exhaust valve even if you have it on stealth mode to track mode when you go full throttle.

So I would assume aftermarket exhausts with the NPP would follow the same guide lines to not damage the exhaust system.

I would contact Corsa and ask them any damage can occur from racing while the exhaust is in stealth mode.

A few years ago a member posted this with a comment along the lines of "why not to use stealth mode on the track"... the tips are aftermarket, but the exhaust behind them looks stock.

The valves do open the exhaust at 100% throttle in stealth if I remember correctly, but it seems there is still potential for damage, because nobody is at WOT all the time even on a track.

I believe the manual states that if you're racing to not leave the exhaust in stealth or tour.

Edit: it's on page 14 under driving and operating: track events and competitive driving.

If passing sound is your concern you can fab some Laguna pipes.

I have kooks and high flow cats into the stock and it's loud at full throttle..

I cannot imagine a cat back on top of it.

Just saying, there are also factors like how lenient the tracks are with the sound limit. Some are definitely stricter than others from what I understand. The lenient ones usually will let you get away with a loud-ish exhaust as long as it's not straight-pipe loud.

That’s what I would prefer…a track with no db limits. Can you tell me what track and location?
