Front parking assist camera

Has anyone installed one of these on their car? I drove my friend's Mazda and it had it and it is so helpful. Would my dealer install one of these?

Nah, the dealer probably won't do anything, because GM does not officially offer this on the Camaro, only the Corvette.

If you had a 2016-2018, there'd be a plug and play aftermarket solution. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything yet for the 2019+ (infotainment has newer software/hardware on those).

NAV TV has recently come out with a newer version for 19+ cars. Not cheap and there’s a bit of work to install.

The one thing I don't like about NAV-TV's models, old and new, is their minimal integration. You have to repurpose a physical button (home, reject call etc.) to activate or turn off the front camera, and there is no real infotainment integration, it simply switches the image source to the raw camera view and back.

Gen5DIY's solution for the 2016-2018 adds a camera icon to the screen, retains the guiding lines that curve as the steering wheel is turned, you can have a centerline, too, with on-screen controls, plus it has a built-in activation timer—the whole thing feels more polished and complete, which I'd expect at this price point.

What does the physical camera its self look like mounted to the front? Does it stick out like a sore thumb? That being said, I've never had an issue parking my Camaro. It's not very difficult to judge where the front of your car is.

It isn't exactly stealthy, but not nerf at all either, take a look. Of course, one can freely place and adjust the camera within reason.

I don’t so much mind the integration, as they seem to be the only option. As well, you can keep your hands on the wheel (I kinda like that). I definitely agree on the need for a timer …. And you can get a camera with stationary lines (which for me would be ok). Overall, I thought the install instructions weren’t specific enough (to the Camaro). They didn’t include the camera / mounting hardware. I wasn’t all that thrilled about splicing into a power source behind the dash. If the cost was 50% less $, I’d probably go for it. For the dough they’re charging, it’s not worth the effort or risk of me screwing something up.

It’s just a generic Amazon parking camera with a wifi adapter.

I’m using this as a guide…

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498695

Casoda WiFi Wireless Backup Camera for iPhone and Android. Is another camera im looking at to stream line the setup. But not the best of reviews.
But we will see, after I test it.
