In a couple of months will be my first time getting a car inspected and dont know if around where i live they do visual, smog or sniff but maybe if i can find a shop to be my friend ill just take the secondary cats off and replace it just with a pipe extension once i install the speed engineering header with the connection pipe that conveniently looks like a cat

Due to my car being supercharged I ran without cats for a few years. I hated the smell and even though there is no smog check here in the eastern part of Washington I decided to install cats. I bought some 100 cell units that had to be welded to short piped before and after the cat so they could be removed if necessary. Now no smell and I still get the flow needed with the supercharger. By the way the cats are not ceramic core so not as fragile.

What is the smell? Is it like fuel?

Yes, it is the unburnt fuel smell of the "old school" days muscle cars, depending on how old ya are.. lol. Some people like it, some don't, and it is worse with a big cam with lots of overlap!!!

Yeah my cammed car smells enough with the cats. Couldnt imagine catless lol. My brother has an fbody with full exhaust w no cats and it doesnt have much smell. He isnt cammed though. Personally with the headers and axle back I would want to have cats in a daily car.

You get used to it. The only time it is bad is when you are idling, driving it ok..
