Starter Issue?

I just found this: https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/09...20the%20engine.

Has anyone on the forum here had a starter issue with their 6th Gen ZL1?

Is this something else to worry about?

I cannot honestly say that I have seen anyone here post about this issue...

Just wondering...

It's a LT1 thing. I think the LT4's have avoided this flaw.

Many have this problem. Leads to parasitic drain. On my second battery with 1300 miles. ZL1 1LE

The class action suit is specific for slow cranking/no start issues on a fully warmed engine. Its GM's failure to deal with heat soak to the starter/starter solenoid that the class action seeks remedy for. Maybe the LT4 has this heat soak - slow crank issue. If so I have not read about any ZL1 folks complaining about it on this forum.

I have been plagued on and off with this issue and my battery will pass a battery test. When my engine is cold or has cooled down after being fully warmed up - it starts just fine.

That is not to say that there can not be other types of battery issues such as a parasitic drain causing a no start on a cold engine.

So far good to go with my ZL1 but my 2016 SS had that problem in the 3 years I owned it. Whoever bought it after I traded it in had to deal with it!

My 2017 ZL1 had a failed starter, it's not just the LT1.

Is this why I see the Battery Protection option touted?

Mine came with the charger & I asked why is that even a thing. Salesman said, being a GM dealer rep., perhaps because these cars sit for long periods & winters. I never had an issue with my SS sitting for several months, I was somewhat malaise on the option.

That’s the spirit! Pass that proverbial buck!

I know I did on the A8 TC shudder issue as it was quite a major deciding factor to go to the A10. F all that nonsense.

I've done two turn and burns down to Pompano Beach the last four days, 350 mile round trip, and my starter was acting up big time when I was gassing up at the service plazas both days. High 90s with high humidity each time, and I guess it wasn't helping that I was running in a 100+ mph pack of criminals both days. Can't wait to see when my starter screws me over...

I had it on my 16 SS and dealer couldn’t figure it out for 2 weeks. Pain in the ass! But damn I miss the car, thinking of getting another one but the reliability wasn’t good for me.
