Tire Recommendations

Ok, I know there is a ton of discussion on tire sizes on this forum, but I've searched and searched and cannot find exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm about to order 4 new Michelin PS4S tires. I drive a 2016 Camaro 2SS Convertible A8 no MRC. I'm running MRR M650 wheels 10x20 11x20 staggered, Offsets of 23 and 43.

For these wheels, MRR says 285/30R20 and 305/30R20 are the correct fitment. Unfortunately, these tire sizes leave a pretty substantial gap between the wheel and fender. I understand I could lower the car and fix this issue, but with my c7carbon ground effects, I'm already about as low as I want to be so I don't scrape coming in and out of driveways.

Stock size for me on stock wheels was 245/40R20 and 275/35R20.
On tiresize.com, that shows me at a height of 27.7" up front and 27.6" rear.

285/30R20 and 305/30R20 show heights of 26.7" and 27.2".
Height difference vs stock is -1" and -0.4".

285/35R20 and 315/30R20 show heights of 27.9" and 27.4".
Height difference vs stock is +0.2" and -0.2".
This would be idea for me, as that would have roughly stock looking wheel gap.

I've read on here before that without MRC, 285/35R20 fits with no rubbing up front, can anyone confirm this? As far as the 315/30R20 is concerned, should I have any issues? I don't mind relocating the harness if necessary.

Thank you guys so much! The camaro6 community is awesome and you guys have no idea how much I appreciate having such a passionate group of people around for this kind of thing!

Thanks Trochoidal! In that post it he shows that he is able to run 285/35R20 up front with MRC. Is the general consensus that an SS without MRC will have less of an issue than those with MRC?

You’re welcome Drew! I’m no tire specialist but I gathered that MRC consumes more real estate. I worked with Paul @ PK Auto and we spoke about my setup (20x10 285/30 +23 up front). I didn’t opt for the 35 profile because I wanted to see how well this setup looked and worked. When these tires wear I’m going to jump up to 35 profile for sure. I had read the link I posted for you but again, I wanted to play it safe. There’s slightly more wheel-well gap than stock but it still hasn’t swayed me enough to get lowering springs.

Also, as you may already know, not all tires fit the same.

Yeah, I was hoping that as popular as the PS4S is on our cars, someone would have tried these sizes before, but I'm only finding a few posts about these sizes and I haven't seen any post with these sizes of PS4S. Thanks for the info!

Alright, I think I've made my decision on tires. I'm going to try to go with 285/35R20 and 315/30r20. I'm going to go ahead and zip tie my harness out of the way on the drivers side just to be sure, but unless anyone else has any other information that shows any issues with these sizes, that's what I'll go with. Thanks!

Come on end of March!!! I’m looking forward to see how this looks and works out for you. Looks are deceiving but side by side my PS4S looks the same size in this picture and these are 285/30.

I'm putting on the exact same sizes, 285/35/20 and 315/30/20 this weekend, so I'll hopefully be able to report on how these sizes work out.

Also bought two pairs of high quality Motorsport Tech spacers (3 mm and 5 mm), just in case; if not needed, I'll make someone happy with them in the classifieds.

That is such awesome news arpad_m! Glad I'm not the only one that is considering it! Let us know how it goes! What kind of tires are you getting?

By the way, arpad_m, do you have MRC on your Camaro?
