To catch can or not?

Hi guys, had my ‘18 1LE for about 900 miles now, and I’m trying to decide if I want to go ahead and put a catch can on or not. I’ve heard both sides of the debate some people think they are pointless some that they are a necessity. How many of you run one on your 1LE? I run my cars pretty hard, this one even more so cause the sound and power is so intoxicating, is it better safe than sorry to throw one on there?

no reason NOT too,
I pull oil out of mine, its not as much as I get out of my grand Cherokee, but oil all the same that would be all over my intake..

Read the many threads and make your own decision.
I’d never run without one after testing for 500 miles

Seeing the cold weather water/fuel/oil buildup in another thread made me think twice.

If you don't routinely get your oil temperature to 200 degrees (short trips) that moisture in the catch can is still there, only in your engine where you can't see it. I routinely pour an ounce or so out every few weeks, I believe its worthwhile.

Why not.
I collect about 1.5oz every oil change.
That would have just burned off and ended up in the cats, or formed carbon on the valves, pistons, or cylinder heads, none of it any good.
Oil has no business in your intake.
It's a contaminate.

I like mine, very cheap & easy install. Keeps oil off the top of the intake valve.

Some say you should, others say you don't need it. I had my intake manifold off(for porting) the engine at 3k miles and there was a little bit of oil coating the intake ports. Nothing crazy and the valves looked good. I still added a catch can and it catches a ounce or so every 1500 miles. Better then being burned out the exhaust.

I drive mine 17 mile each direction to work so getting up to temperature isn't a problem. My catch can filled with water in less than a week when the temps dropping below 20º. I won't put another can on a car

I don't daily my SS1LE, but this is just one weekend of driving my car (bone stock other than the Elite catch can)

This could all be running strait into the intake, valves, and combustion chamber. I am glad I have a can is all that I can say

I use the UPR 4 stage passenger side can & it gives me "peace of mind", I get about 1-2 oz. per oil change. UPR may have an application for your Camaro's.
