It comes with the current map version in the original price, and includes unlimited use of basic navigation with no subscription or fees. You'll have to pay for updated maps (they are on an SD card) if you want them in the future.

There is also additional information with Connected Navigation, which gives you things like real-time traffic and fuel prices. According to the info on the build configurator it is available on "properly equipped vehicles" - it doesn't explicitly state anywhere that I can find if the Camaro is properly equipped, but I'm assuming it is. Connected Navigation DOES require a subscription through OnStar - looks like it's part of the "Connected Vehicle" plan for 24.99/month, or the "Premium Services" plan for 49.99/month. I'm not sure if there is a trial period with new purchase or not but I should be able to say for sure next week when mine comes in.

For what it's worth - I've had factory nav in my previous 3 cars, all have had some sort of similar optional extras for a price and all have offered a trial period of some sort. None of the connected features have been particularly useful to me, certainly not enough to pay for.

Android Auto also doesn't work where you can't get cell signal, and satnav does.

Besides, why would you trust any of them? GPS is based on the shape of the world being a sphere, I doubt it works properly for the flat world you think you live on. Surely a paper map is closer to what you believe in.

It was worth it to me because I don't use Apply CarPlay. I like having the nav. map, esp. for curvy mountain road driving - to see what the path ahead looks like if I'm not familiar with the road.

GLOBAL Positioning System. You know, as in "spherical body".

Let's not high-jack this member's post please.

I don't like the factory navigation cause it doesn't update with the changing roads. It works decent when you don't have cell signal, but it get dated.

We can see too far.

To me Nav is a waste of money. I use Apple Play on in my car and wife's Camry came with Nav and they charge monthly to use it and we let the free period expire and she uses Apple Play on in her car.

I never had the factory nav, and my phone has never let me down on CarPlay nor do I regret not getting the factory nav. I’m not poo pooing the factory nav, Just my 2 cents.

I had the factory Nav on my 2016. The only thing I liked is that it showed the turn by turn info in the HUD. On my 2021 ZL1 Apple CarPlay is wireless I prefer it much better. The phone never leaves my pocket and I just tell Siri where I want to go and it maps it out. I also use the Amazon Music app (free music with Prime) with CarPlay, works pretty good. It was nice to see Chevy updated the entertainment system software. It responds much quicker than it did on my 2016 2SS, changing channels, switching menus, etc.

By the way, I know it is the same Bose system but it sounds much better in my 2021 than it did in my 2016? Did they upgrade any of the components. It seems to hit much harder, maybe the amps in the Bose speakers have been upgraded since then?

I like that I can see the directions in the HUD. $495 is cheap

The earth is actually an oblate spheroid. Sooner or later Shebby will drop support for the map updates, years and years from now though.

Carry on.
