Paint protection
Hello, gonna be picking up my black 2016 SS2 Camaro and I remember reading about some sort of paint protection. What do you guys use ? I am wanting to minimize Knicks on hood. This will be my first back car.

I got Xpel ultimate on mirrors/half hood/nose/fenders.
Great stuff, 10 year no bs warranty. Self-healing, too.

I probably need to get xpel, but I'm finding if I just stay 3-4 car lengths back, it sure cuts down on the rocks. Doesn't eliminate it, of course, and trucks passing are still a problem, but I hadn't realize how bad being closer was until I got the new car.

Does anyone have pics of their car with XPEL ?
I never had it done before and just nervous to put it on my 2016 SS2 I think I would want to do the whole hood, any idea of price? |

I have it and have posted pics but you really wont see it unless you let get real dirty. I can go grab some close ups of the hood and where the line is but Im telling you if I don't show people the line they dont see it.
I paid about 900 for the front end some of the hood and it would have been double if I wanted the whole hood.

Album here. Nose shot here. You cannot tell there is anything on the car unless you are about 18 inches away and actually looking for it.

I tried to get the line on the hood. I had to get the right angle to see it well in a pic.

As others have said, some form of 'clear bra' is the way to go, xpel being one the best.
I have clear bra on my 2013 ZL1 and I had it on my 2011 2SS, both convertibles. On both cars, I had the front facia, the mirrors, and the gill area covered in Avery Nanofusion for around $900 for each car. Best money I ever spent. Pictures of clear bra usually don't work because the whole point of it is that it's clear. The only way you should be able to see it at all is if the clear bra ends somewhere in the middle of a body panel such as half-way up a hood, or in the case of mine, the gill area. In other areas, the clear bra ends at a body seam, so it's not noticeable. One downside of having it end in the middle of a body panel is that over time as you polish/wax your car, you might get a slight build up at the edge of the clear bra. Depending on the color of the car, this might be noticeable or not. |

Xpel is the the best money we have ever spent, have had it on several cars. Well worth the price of admission. As soon as we can get things lined out with our car it will go in for a full detail/xpel/tint. Full hood, full fenders, full front end, headlights, fogs/markers, a strip along the roof line of a few inches, a pillars, a strip inside the door sills, a trunk strips and door edges.
