Tbh OP, i feel you on the power thing. Ive only gone WOT about 4 or 5 times since owning this car, and coming from a 500rwhp vette, i am spoiled. I will eventually do a full bolt on before its done with, which guys have yielded mid 470s to the wheels. I will say this car more than makes up for straight line power with handling and brakes. I can take corners i couldnt with my vette. As far as throttle response, you seem experienced, so when you say you feel it lacking i dont second guess you a bit. But try sport mode. sport steering, and everything else track. This combo to me is perfect. I daily this crazy car everyday. Love it.

Did you say C5 Z06? I felt like those cars had such a long front end and kind of a weird turn in feel. I test drove one with 9k miles on it while I had my 2014 Mustang GT PP and thought I liked my Mustang better other than the Vette's power. I really thought I wanted the Z06 as it was that wicked electron blue (2003). Maybe I need to drive another one.
Congrats on getting one of the performance car bargains of the last 10 years or more! I love my 1SS non-1LE. I have never driven a 1LE, I probably shouldn't......

Completely agree, this car is INSANE with its handling limits and the brakes are amazing as well, with no brake dive.

It is a great balanced package, that looks bad ass. I just was hoping for a little more UUMMPP, but I will get used to it. I love seeing and feeling 1.2G's on the on/off ramps.

I did, but keep in mind my experiences with the C5 Z06 were when they first came out and I was younger with less experience in performance cars. The C5 Z06 was my first real sports car and at the time, it was ahead of its time in performance. If I drove one today, I might feel different.

It just left a lasting impression on me that has stuck.

How would you feel about charging the engine for the extra power? I.e. LT4 conversion?

I'm not going to put that much money into it. One of the reasons I choose it was because of its value.

I would to have loved to see the LS7 in this car though, 505HP and 470TQ would be pretty awesome.

I miss that "throw you back in the seat" feel of the M3 already, and its only been 5 days, lol The handling and handling limits make up for that , but that is not something you can utilize in commute traffic.
THIS! Glad I am not the only one who feels underwhelmed by the acceleration. I was expecting to be awed by 455 HP once the motor was past the break-in period but the throttle mapping feels like it's leaving a lot on the table with the lazy response and soft torque delivery. Kinda crappy that the neck snapping torque delivery that one would expect from a large displacement V8 has been tuned out of the LT1, but I hope playing with the mode settings like Matty-1LE and JK001 described will restore some throttle response.

Check my OP on PTM demystified and read how different settings affect performance. Unless you engage PTM or turn everything off, or go to Comp Mode (NB completely diff stability system from PTM design principles) the car wont give you full torque values and ediff will be in a most stability as priority setting practically the same as PTM Wet setting.

PS i too think a c5z is an amazing car even now and given what the cost today plus track mods amazing choices for track cars on a cheap (relatively speaking).

Throttle is much crisper.. won't see a hp gain but response is better and more progressive.

What's different about this throttle body?

The C5 Z06 was magical 15 years ago, but a lot has happened since then. (My ‘03 was Electron Blue.) Many people thought the C6 with Z51 was a better package overall, including me (mine was Machine Silver), but it wasn’t quite as raw as the C5 Z06.

Today, the 1LE is a better-performing and considerably more sophisticated package than the C5 Z06 - unless the Z06 has had considerable modifications that push it past the price of a new 1LE. In this comparison, I believe newer is better - and if everything else were equal, I’d still go for an ‘18 1LE. I really like what this car delivers.

Expect to see a significant increase in power and acceleration once you get into the 10-20k mile range. People will deny it, but I notice a significant bump in power once an engine is broken in. You can't judge a car until it has 10k miles on it. I've driven dozens of cars over the years, it happens with every single one of them down to the Chevrolet Trax I drive daily. Off the lot is was so stiff and slow. 15k miles later and it feels zippy. Second, you definitely have not gotten into the performance modes yet. You have to be in track mode, and even then, in the performance traction modes to actually get full torque. All the other modes, including tour, and sport, do not give you full access to all the engine's power. And in track mode, the throttle response is very linear. It does not artificially inflate the throttle input. This is intentional, so that you can modulate the throttle on the track. So to a novice who doesn't know, he might think the throttle response is "sluggish" in track mode. They would be wrong, its intentional, and actually if you really get into the throttle with the nannies off, you'll get full torque.

You have to remember that a car like the M3 is tuned to "feel" fast. Along with most european sports coupes and sedans, the throttle is calibrated to give you a "rush" on first press, and possibly cause you to chirp the tires coming away from a stop light. Laypersons will assume it is the faster car, but get out on an open track and the 1LE will simply dominate.

GM engineers could have tuned the car to feel faster off the line, but there are many good reasons not to do that. If you really feel like the throttle response isn't too your liking, there are several throttle controller voltage boosters on the market that will amplify the throttle signal and give you that intense response.
