Unfortunately, you have to re-install the Cat. The old days of passing it using the exhaust from another vehicle or having a repair guy you know "hook you up" are long gone. Nowadays everything is computerized and tracked. Here in NY, the only thing they can push through is the dark tints. Let's see how long that lasts.

Yeah sorry, especially in NJ, you're out of luck.

If you happen to have a very good friend with a 6th gen SS, you could borrow his exhaust for the emissions test. The entire exhaust from the manifolds back can be swapped in under an hour, working off of Jack stands.

I thought they hooked up to the OBD port and if everything checks out, you're good. No sniffers anymore.
Assuming the OP is catless and no O2 sensors, and has a tune that gets rid of CEL's, does the emissions check see that tune and throw a flag? Is that what he means by know for a fact it won't pass? So many questions... |

thanks for the info. to reply to one of the previous post i don't think there any more friendly NJ inspection shops anymore particularly in the northern NJ area, also i haven't been throwing up any codes i just know with the way it sounds they will probably think i'm insulting their intelligence.

How did this work out for you? I moved to NJ with a Subaru STI which had to run a special lean tune to scrape through the emissions tests in CO. I took it to the testing place in Flemington and the guy told me that as long as it isn't throwing codes when they plug it in, it would be fine. I took it there, didn't change the tune, and was out with my sticker in 5 mins. Probably not as loud as a straight pipe LT1, but with a 3" Perring exhaust, it wasn't exactly quiet.

You can buy 18mm anti fowlers from a parts store, drill them out so the O2 sensor will not hit bottom, then install anti fowler in O2 bung and the O2 sensor into the anti fowler. It keeps the sensor out of the exhaust so shouldn't throw a code for no cat.
