This above.

My experience with my 2016 SS Camaro for 3 years

1.) stock wires are fine to replace with stock. Best option for a pure stock car setup.

2.) Headers - I found MDS not as good as stock. Good for headers and bending boot. Had 2 out of 8 wires fail over the year. Ditch the metal sleeves GM supplies and get the cloth protection sleeves.

3.) Drag Racing - spend the extra money on a good set like Granatelli. I did try Accel ceramic boots, on headers one will not fit on number 3. Plus the glue on the boot that Accel uses melted and wires became lose because of header heat. (This was with High Ram, Cam, NOS, my IAT with the High Ram where higher with heat soak, NOS and E85 helped)

BlackbeastSS2 My car is a 2019 1ss 1le with 1 7/8th tsp headers, magnason supercharger, running on e85 and has a meth kit. So maybe it mite be worth my wild to get the granatelli ones I dont know. Or at lest get rid of the factory metal sleeves for boots and figure out whats causing the miss.

Well with headers it’s easy to have a hair line crack that u don’t see in a spark plug especially when headers have been installed. Did they or u remove the spark plugs before installing the headers? Very easy to crack a plug on install. Check plugs, wire connections, and even coil. HP tuners is good to see what’s happening with your engine with a few logs and see where the miss is.

even with the above, I still needed to fab two brackets to the valve cover to pull the wire away from the header. Simple with aluminum flat bar and a drill

Fire up a pic if you don’t mind. I always like seeing ideas like that.

bracket and misc wires 2 stock and 1 with the bent boot. Note I do cut some of the rubber away on the stock wire that is used to support the metal shield. I do find that tie wire is the best thing to use to make the fiberglass tight in spots, but zip ties don't conduct so probably better.

just to update everyone. put the car on my buddies scan tool the other day. Found out that the car has slight miss in just about every cylinder but its very random and speratic. Most of the misses were on cylinders 3 and 5 but all of them did it at some point. The most i can notice it doing it is when the car is cold at idle and when you put it under a load at a lower rpm. So I guess for now im going to leave it alone tell I can get it on the dyno to see exactly whats going on. Thanks for posting all yall tips and tricks on here though. nice to see what others are using and have done.

My sons Grand Prix GTP had random multiple misfires and wouldn't run for crap all of a sudden. The recently replaced his intake gaskets, plugs, and wires. No check engine light was on, just had oil leaks. He threw a fuel pump at it because his friend said there wasn't enough coming out of the schraeder valve when he pressed it. A new mass air flow sensor fixed it. Go figure. A "surefire" indication that you have a bad plug wire besides specific cylinder misfire codes (and that can be a valve issue, intake leak, etc) is if you find white areas on the wire where it gets next to any metal.

scanning my car(s) with hpt always shows misfires on multiple cylinders. when this camaro had 6k miles on it and ran perfectly fine the counter still found a way to keep itself busy. i don’t put much stock in it unless there is a code or it’s obviously misfiring.
