Got same letter on Thursday and sent message asking how the update is done on my end and no response to this point. I’ve had the car a year in June and didn’t expect an update so soon but still I would think that my current mapping is good except for the most recent construction which will be a constant. It be nice if these updates were free or super discounted for cars still within that manufacturers warranty.
Can someone say GM or Team Chevy should be on here offering a ‘Group Buy’ for all these loyalist?

I have passed on the built-in nav systems for all my late model cars.

My Garmin unit has free updates for life. And of course there's the iPhone as another option.

The reason I went factory is the updates aren’t needed yearly and the map companies need a few years to make their updates corspon with the roads. I also use a radar detector, my phone plugged in and there is just so much Real estate available for all the toys. Besides only one lighter plug.

You don't charge your phone with the USB port?

Personally, most factory GPS units suck. I just use Android Auto.

I wish Garmin would come up with a way to plug into the car and show on the screen like Android Auto. I prefer the Garmin but use the built-in nav or my android phone and tablet most of the time.

I agree about Garmin. I have the Mylink nav but Garmin beats it a mile. I keep the Garmin on top of the dash using an adhesive disk and the basic Garmin window stand. I keep it just enough to the right of the Mylink so it doesn't block my vision.

my car was built 7-12-16 as a 17 model. I am thinking this update is just a scam. I have not received a notice of an update I bet everyone gets them every year to 2 years. if they just came out with a map update how come my 1 year old car doesn't get one.

The map updates are valid but of how much value to you are they is the question. A map update isn't going to help with the flaws in the basic system that is unable to understand voice commands or make it more user friendly.

I'm honestly more puzzled that they haven't upgraded the basic code for the system in close to two years for my system. I'd gladly pay $150 for updated code that fixed the voice recognition or added more features.

My map update fixed the bug with defaulting to WV as the state whenever searching for a location.

CarPlay doesn't let you use Google maps... you mean Apple maps?

Dealer told me when I bought mine that you get free map updates if you are paying for OnStar turn-by-turn. Not sure that makes OnStar worth it at $300ish/year but figured somebody may be able to use that info.
