Really consistent 60’ times for stock tires, you have definitely got the launch procedures down. Great job.

10.5 wasn't fast enough for me.
But...this is a different animal.

I have made many passes in my 2017 ZL1 A10. The DA is normally mid 3000's. 17" ET Street R's at 18psi and no tpms. Best 60ft 1.72 best 1/4 mile et 11.25@128mph.
Track mode with all nannies off. Launch between 1500-1800 rpms. My 60ft should be better but can't figure out how.

Please refrain from hammering me for this about cold air and shit, but I bet we'll never see 10 second passes on a SHOWROOM STOCK ZL1. Don't think the torque management built in to compensate for the shortness of 1-2-3-4-5-6 will allow for it. If a tuner could go in and just get rid of that alone you could probably see 10.8s on the stock tires...
If the A10 does crack a 10, it will be 2-3 hero runs that are in the 10.95-10.99 range. JMO. |

I think it could be done with better air. The MPH some people are running surely dictates the car does have a 10 second passes in them. I know on some tracks the DA can get in the negatives. Pair that with 60-70 degree temps and you would see some factory stock cars running in the high 10s.

I think the above answered the question I was going to ask. I currently have a Hellcat and with a set of 305 rear tires, people are running 10.8 - 10.9s. Plus, the new wide body Hellcats, which are the same as the current Hellcats, come with factory 305s, and Dodge is claiming a 10.8 1/4 time. Again, these times are consistent with the current ones that add the 305s. Makes sense. So, back to what I wanted to know. The ZL1 traps the same speed as a Hellcat, so why doesn't it get less than low 11s? The ZL1 has the rubber in the rear. Is it the number of gears, hence the number of shifts, or is it th torque management that is holding it back a bit? Again, I'm on these forums because I love the new ZL1, and kind of shopping around. Thanks guys.

I hope you are right. I want to see the zl1 run in the 10's as much as anyone. They have a long way to go to just catch me.

A stock ZL1 will run 10s...Period! I don't care if it's a hero run. Does that mean it didn't happen? The one hellcat that ran 10.99 on stock tires wasn't discounted because it was a hero run.

Let's not all forget that Hellcats are anywhere from 50-100 HP underrated and that is known and dyno proven time and time again. A dodge rep said that they're "around 40 HP" underrated, but it's much more than that.
Very true. They don't launch hard at all. Go watch Hellcats and C7 Z06s launch...They nearly pull the wheels. |

Hellcats run 10.85 on the right tires over and over again. No hero runs needed. On STOCK tires the ZL1 will out-drag the Hellcat most of the time. The Hellcat, with it's understated HP rating, can really pour it on. But they are still very close with the Hellcat having a small edge. But lets be reasonable. If the ZL1 is a 10th or two behind, how does that matter when the ZL1 will out handle the Hellcat in every other way? These are very different cars. I love my Hellcat, but I really want a ZL1 too! If those 10ths mattered I'd be getting the Demon (and I already passed on one). R |
