Doors automatically lock and unlock?

I'm wondering if anyone has some experience or maybe some input regarding my doors unlocking and locking by themselves.

Basically, my vehicle was in an accident two months ago where I was hit on the drivers side, mainly the door. I got my car back last week, and have noticed that after I lock the doors with my remote fob, they will unlock, lock, and unlock.

Of course, this is due to the damage on the door. It seems, however, that this is some security measure the car does to not remain locked in the car in the case of an accident? Or are the locking mechanisms broken?

Yes, the insurance is going to send someone out to take a look at it.

I never use the key fob for locking or unlocking my car. I use the button on the handle to unlock and the door switch to lock. Read up on how thieves can steal your key fob signal.

I agree with the above regarding the key fob signal. If the accident was 2 months ago and you just got it back last week what work was done to it in that timeframe?

I set my car to lock itself after I step out of it and then use the button on the handle to unlock. A friend recently has the same issue with yours but his is a 5th Gen. He hasn't solved the issue either but he bought the car used.

Everything was fixed with the vehicle, except this problem. Apparently the shop never had it happen when they had it, but every time I lock the car it does the "unlock, lock, and unlock" thing on its own.

I have that set-up as well, but after the car locks, a couple seconds later it automatically unlocks, locks, and unlocks the lock on the door always leaving my door unlock.

I have to wait outside my car until it does this so I can lock it again, and then it won't do it.

Most of the time when you have a “stuttering” on the locking mechanism/solenoids, it’s because the current is intermittent. Start checking all your wiring and connectors with a continuity tester. You may have an intermittent connection, Common when reassembling wiring systems.

1. The car door has a malfunctioning sensor. First lock occurs. Door sensor detects the door should remain unlocked. Unlock occurs. Car software determines door should actually end in locked position. Second lock occurs. Malfunctioning sensor doesn’t cause a second unlock because it only activated once in this cycle, based on software.

2. The car door has a sensor that detects something is not to proper spec. The lock signal is sent to the car. Since the door sensor thinks something isn’t as it should be, the car initiated an unlock and relock sequence to ensure the safety feature (unlocking) is accessible.
I feel like your second answer might be the case, since this did occur right after the accident and the body shop didn't fix it since.
