Installed a set a Hawk pads on my SS

The old pads had about 65K miles on them & I started to hear a squeal. This was the passenger front side w/ uneven wear:

The rotors were in great shape:

Bye bye roller skates:

The rears still had a decent amount of material left, but I replaced them anyway:

The rear pads had shims on them. So I cleaned off the vaporized caliper grease & reused them. Not sure if I needed too, but I did anyway.

This pad swap was pretty easy. It's nice not having to remove the calipers.

I got the pads at Summit racing for $192 + free shipping.

Looks like you caught it just in time (avoiding some serious rotor scoring).

Good choice to swap pads all around, and at least as long as the shims are in decent condition I wouldn't be afraid to re-use them either. The brakes will work just fine without them, though they might be more likely to make noise without.

Don't forget to bed the pads in according to the suggested procedure, and I hope you sanded/scoured off any of the OE pad material that may have transferred itself to the rotors.

Yes, the pads were bedded in properly. I'm getting very good performance out of them.

Which pads did you end up going with?
