Thanks Jan - Much appreciated!

It appears that we're out of the danger zone. Dorian stayed about 100 miles offshore of Jacksonville. So all we got was wind and a lot of rain. it's amazing to watch the feeder bands move so rapidly overhead. One minute it's pouring rain and the next minute the sun is shinning.

Hello RubyCamaro

The advice you've got from BigTime53 is mostly spot on correct.

However, I beg to differ on the part referring to having to fully refurbish the wheels.

Although that is the most appropriate solution , it will prove costly $$$.

In my own experience, a top paint/detailing shop shall be capable of applying a finishing coat to the damaged wheels at at fraction of the cost.

When a Senior citizen made an erratic turn at corner I was half way through I was forced to tighten my turning radius to avoid her scrapping the sides of my car.

As a result I scratched - badly - a section of my rear right weel lip against the curb.

The shop I normally take my cars to repaired the dents and scratches, painted the wheel, perfectly matching the original color AND FINISH (i.e., the clear coat), and certified the wheel (in-round circunference, balance and true aspect) for about US$150.

The job was so thorough I couldn't tell where was the repaired section, and I'm very neat picky when it come to my vehicles. I really mean they did it perfectly.

I canīt tell if they painted the whole wheel or just matched the repaired section and then did one hell of a job in fading/blending with the rest.
Also the wheel looks perfect when placed side to side with any other wheel - I have removed it and put it alongside to compare the color and finishing.

Now, this is one of the top two shops (not cheap at all) in my neck of the woods, so I'm sure that if you shop around carefully you will find a few in your city that can provide an A1 service at probably a much better rate, due to the higher volumes of work they would handle and because the work will be just the finishing coat.

I can tell from this and many other of your posts that you really care and are zealous about the state of your CAMARO, so I trust this alternative is acceptable to you.

Hope this helps you finding a satisfactory and reasonable solution.

Drive safe and all the best for you,

The Flash

Well finally able to get on Camaro 5. Does anyone know what caused the problem to not let us get on.

Welcome back Camaro5. Missed my fix. I was mid post here (with pics) when it went down. I may have uttered ugly words when I hit submit & it was gone.

Anyway, to resume: in response to The Flash: Good info. I may end up doing that. I know a place here that could probably do that. I did have someone recommend the stuff pictured & have been reading about it. Considering trying it as I am looking for an acceptable low cost solution. I don't show my car anymore & it has basically become my daily but do want to maintain it as best I can on a retirement budget. This stuff is recommended for refurbishing anodized metal. Anyone here ever used it? Thoughts?

An OLD FART in a young car. One of my uncles came along on a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and captured my smiling, cheerful self. It checks off all the boxes in the title of this thread.

Hi Blue_6-2!

We have had a long spell of summer in the fall time here. It has been to hot even in my usually cool Garage to work on my wheels. We have also been coping with another death in the family. Just starting to recup from my father-in-law's death when we lost my brother-in-law. Heaven has gained 2 great veterans. It is finally fall weather so hopefully I can get my wheels refinished soon. Hope everyone is doing well.

We lucked out at my house not getting any damage from the remnants of the tropical storm that blew through Tennessee & other states. My mother-in-law had no electricity from Saturday afternoon until Tuesday evening. Some folks still have no power & lots of damage to homes & businesses, trees & other property.. The Clarksville Raceway lost it's bleachers & the Airport hangars & planes. Hope everyone is safe out there. More rain & winds expected tomorrow into Halloween then temps drop adding insult to injury.

Happy Friday Everyone!!! My son, son-in-law, and I are headed to Homestead tomorrow for the NASCAR Championship Race Sunday. Sadly this will be the last Championship Race there. NASCAR has moved the Homestead Race to March for next year.
