Lancer Evo surprise

ended up next to an Evo this weekend on a private road and I have to say I was damn surprised.
Roll from about 30mph and he pulled me a little, once I hit 3rd we were about even I was very slowly reeling him in. We talked after and I find out he's at 562whp.
I would have pulled on him in 2nd if I had traction but it was 60degrees out and there was no traction to be had to I shifted into 3rd early and got traction but man I was barely pulling on him, I didn't get past 6k in 3rd tho, it was a short run. All wheel drive certainly helped him out! Car was damn fast tho.

Had a very short run in with one before my cam, he was E85 and pulled hard on me lol but halfway through 3rd its almost like he was going backwards. That AWD is serious, always wanted to drive one they seem very enjoyable

It definitely moved out. He was on E85, bigger turbo 30psi. Said he was about maxed out on his fuel system and the bottom end. His AWD definitely had me until about 70mph. Now if I were running slicks or it was a really hot day it would have been a different story but I was impressed.

Underestimating a modded EVO is the worst thing you can do. I got caught behind a sleepy GTR driver at a red light last week, but I knew better since I could smell rich exhaust coming from his tail pipes. lol!

I bet he's got a lot more money in his than you do yours to get it to go. Plus those Evos look like Hi-top tennis shoes.

I had one of these guys try me not once, but twice!! And he was dumbfounded when he couldn't get me!! First he tried from a rolling start at about 20, that didn't work for him as I completely left him by about 2 cars and he couldn't catch me til the next light, then said to me, if it were from a dig I bet you couldn't do that, so I told him ok, when the light turns green go.... I didn't tell him I had a 4200 stall in the car until I left him AGAIN and we stopped at the next light and he said WOW that thing is quick, and I said thanks. When the light turned green, he just let me go first.. Guess I got lucky that day, was fun though...But ya gotta think about a modded Camaro sitting there nervous as hell jumping up and down at idle sitting stillthat maybe, just maybe you're not gonna beat it.. lol...

Actually he only has about 8k into it. I have double that. But he needs about $20k worth of work to increase from where he's at now. I can tune and run race fuel for 100whp tomorrow.

Dam for 8K that's pretty solid. Not sure how well that bottom end will hold, those blocks blow rods all the time when pushing big boost.

Yea he said he was at his limit. That's why it would be so much for him to increase, full build, full fuel system ect. He is pushing 30psi.. I laughed when he told me that, I am peaking at 12.

Well he did tell me that he upped the boost on it from stock and did a CAI on it and headers and tune, but he didn't say what he was running for hp.. But it was pretty quick...Since I was able to tach it out to 7200 I didn't want to give him a chance. Was fun though...lol

If he's capped out on the rice rocket engine it sounds like time for an LS swap.

Hey.... Take it easy on the STI owners, lol. Intake and a downpipe/tbe makes a fun daily driver with flex fuel addition. Surprised a few lightly modded Camaros and Mustangs. But the stock turbo runs out of puff above 5500. Ready to install a Forced Performance Green turbo, Grimmspeed external waste gate up pipe with a Tial and Borla headers for more fun. Went up against an EVO with the STI, only to find out later he was forged on a semi closed deck with an FP Black. He got me late in 2nd gear when the bigger turbo took over, ouch. It was around 550ish hp.
