C'mon, despite being ugly to me, that car is awesome. Yeah, I agree, though I don't see anything that new, and that long to develop in that car. That's no LaFerrari. I keep on thinking the platform is now kinda old, that everything they've put in that car was already on the market like 3 years ago. The Z is better than a GTR. Good thing to know Chevy could have taken GTR sales way earlier... and could have shut up years of people saying Camaro's were huge super heavy cars ... and Now, Nissan guys will make soon a better car ... Yeah, I know, GM wasn't in that good of a shape back in the times, yeah, I know marketing people are planning on schedules (SS, then ZL1, then 1LE, then Z28 then whatever). Though the car industry is sooooo slow to wake up and work. Being a trader in a corporate bank, being that slow to react would make us die like twice a day ... Different industries, though, so many offers in the world, waiting is killing. See Porsche is almost always briggin' novelties.

Wow.
I'm speechless. I'm a mustang guy first and American muscle car second. This is awesome! I was with a lot of people stating this car is too much but now has me rethinking. Great job gm! Might finally get me to convert over!

I'm waiting for the ricer flyby, or the turbo lag excuse, or the smaller brakes excuse, or the I didn't have good enough tires on my "track edition" excuse. Even with all of those Gran Turismo computer electronics and nannies helping the car drive itself, good 'ol manual shift prevails.
Oh wait, I'm just saying that cause I'm a Camaro fanboy

So for the last 7 years when they have been saying the GTR was the end all of sportscars were they being biased and fake then too? They also mentioned in the review the GTR was faster in a straight line. Get over it man, the GTR is no longer King of the hill. If anything you are the fake and biased one.

awesome video. i however was getting kind of annoyed with him bashing the SS in the beginning of the video.
im curious what they use for chase cars for filming, is it the opposite vehicle? like if theyre filiming the Z/28 are they using the GTR as a chase vehicle for video and vise versa? |

I'd have to agree about this review being a little bit iffy. I prefer american muscle to across the seas, but the GT-R has been 13 seconds faster on the ring compared to the Z28. Something isnt adding up... this makes the Z/28 faster than the C6 ZR1 which I find hard to believe.

Good showing for Chevy.
I find it hard to believe it out gtr-ed the GTR. Still cost to much (IMHO) With all that said I still really really want a new Z28 :-)

I think which one is "faster" really comes down to the track layout. The Z28 is going to have the advantage on tight technical tracks with short straights and lots of corners. Where the GTR even the ZL1 will even things out on tracks with longer straights and fewer corners. Of course this only applies to a one lap shootout, over a 20-30 lap run you have to start factoring in brake fade, tire wear, and heat soak. I am one who only wants to see factory stock comparisons, so no tire or brake changes just because they are "wear items". At that point you are modding the car, and I own a ZL1. I would allow brake fluid change for safety, as it's one thing to have brakes fade but still have some brake and it's another to boil fluid and have no brakes. Of course this is just my personal opinion with no real facts to back it up.
Edit: This is no knock on the Z28, it is awesome for what it is. If I could have one and keep my ZL1 I would! |

I think the buff mags need one more test besides fastest lap. Run 12 laps total: one warm-up, 10 hot laps, and one cool-down. Show us the data from that so we can see how the performance holds up. Maybe 10 isn't enough in absolute terms, but it's reasonable to do and would instantly separate out the pretenders...
