The summit rep confirmed this as well.

Edit: looks like Kooks does send out their 304 to jet hot. My bad. But it looks like it’s only them. But some vendors were peddling the 409 option. Lame

304 SS KOOKs Headers

And as stated on their website: Manufactured In The USA. Kooks Uses T304 Aircraft Quality Stainless Steel. Kooks Products are Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty To the Original Purchaser. Kooks Products Are Dyno And Race Tested and Designed For Maximum Power.
It’s true you can buy 304SS headers from Kooks. But beware of what you buy. BruceWayne is right and he probably either knew this already or read it here.

From what I've seen, there's two options:
304 then sent to Jet-Hot
409 then sent to Jet-Hot.

Please pay the extra for the better 304 stainless steel.

Thanks for that link. I bought mine through KOOKs and not a vendor, so I trust mine are 304. I always do the magnet check on my systems too before installing, these checked out good. I've always had great service from KOOKs, they even made the rear pipes an extra 1 1/4" longer so I wouldn't have to do any fabrication work like everyone else does.

Yeah, that's why I use KOOKs and was surprised they even offered a 409 version. Years ago they mistakenly sent me an aluminized pipe for my 2002, failed the magnet check and visual, but they corrected that no problem. It looks like now everything they offer is pretty much 304 SS.

I mean quite honestly I would bet that the coated 409 headers would outlast most* peoples ownership of these cars. I have TSP lts and I know they only use 304 in their headers but my cat back is 409. I’m in Cali so I’m not too worried about corrosion. I also don’t daily my 1LE. I leave that to my 300,000mi explorer

Off topic from this thread but what do you guys do for front license plates in California? I really don't see front plates on nearly any of the performance cars in California off of YouTube. I also see some of the cars out there are modified which I don't understand how that passes in California.

If the rules are the same as here in NJ, they may be using a removable plate bracket such as the Sto'n'Sho or similar, and never attach the plate. Then if they get pulled over, they either try to talk it down to a warning or pay the fine and "fix it", as in, fishing the plate out of the trunk at snapping it on
