Resonator Delete L99

I want my 2013 L99 to sound more like a V8 than it does. I don't want it to be mega loud but just want the V8 rumble (and to keep the overrun popping)
A couple of exhaust guys in the UK have recommended deleting the resonator, one suggesting straight pipe replacement and one suggesting x pipe replacement.

So...has anyone deleted their resonator (and nothing else) and if so what result did you get - straight pipe or x pipe and has anyone got a vid of the sound/s.

I'm aware from posts on here of the possible AFM issues but that can always be dealt with - it's something that I've yet to notice with the stock set up.

I would go with a resonated x-pipe be aware though that the resonator on the Auto helps mask AFM and after removing it AFM noises would be more apparent. Personally if you just want to raise the volume a little get a axle-back exhaust or even a muffler delete ( being in the UK laws might be tougher) .

I have a a full catback from Solo (uses an x-pipe muffler where the huge resonator used to be). Awesome system. Mild mannered at cruise, but loud when you get on it. Every time I've been at the track doing burnouts, someone will always compliment me on how good it sounds. If you're just looking for more sound, and a little power too, look into high flow cats. Solo and also some other companies make them.

http://youtu.be/U6MB4yUwVKA this is my setup with my resonator in place...magnaflow axleback muffler delete with solo hi flow cats. The afm isn't to bad...there is no drone with this setup. This is a l99, its mild until you stand on it.....then it really barks under throttle. You don't have to delete the resonator to get a good sound....I think the stock resonator helps with drone as well on after market exhaust.

If u want good sound without messing with warranty get a full catback. I went with the borla full S system and have gotten more compliments than I can count and even a few waves the drone is minimal at best and camaros are supposed to be loud anyway

It's been posted a million times. DO NOT GO STRAIGHT PIPES. This car NEEDS a crossover of some sort or it will lose HP and TQ. This has been shown to be true numerous times with dyno sheets. H or X pipe doesn't really matter as long as you have one. The OEM H pipe is buried within that resonator section.

I ditched the resonator and those huge muffler cans. Best money I ever spent. Strait pipe sounds better than anything on the market. Don't let companies trying to sell u stuff say otherwise.

Like Axis said, If you do delete the resonator, make sure you use some sort of X or H pipe. If you delete the mufflers as well I suggest going with the Magnaflow resonated X. If you are keeping the stock mufflers or going with something somewhat mild, go ahead with a regular X pipe or an H pipe.

Feel free to call, PM or email me with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Straight pipes are way too loud for my retirement neighborhood. I have LTs, no cats, a Magnaflow resonated x pipe, and Borla axle back. It's AWESOME sounding!!
