14 ss l99 harness in a 12 l99

So my headers burnt the part of the harness that runs to the tcm...I bought a 14 l99 engine harness for cheap to cut the Part off that I need and solder it to mines. But don't know if I want to do that or replace the whole harness.. so my question is will a 2014 l99 engine harness be plug and play with a 2012 l99.. or is it ok to cut and solder or try to find a 2012 l99 harness

If you have the time and skill I always say fix what you have.

Not a good answer, that’s not even the question he asked...

OP, if you have the time I would replace the whole harness but that is a task. If you need it done ASAP then splice it. I don’t know if the harnesses are plug in play only because 2013 and up have electronic power steering. So you might be better off splicing it.

My answer is in relation to this part of the post. "I feel" like it's better to use the parts he got from the other harness to fix his vs replacing the whole thing. (ie fix what you have)

You yourself gave an answer that is leaning towards fixing what he has vs swapping the whole thing.

Why is my answer "not good" ?

Uhh because it was vague, and you could’ve just said “splice the harness”......

OP: should I swap harnesses or splice my current one?

You: fix what you have....

OP: but I have both....

You:FIX WHAT YOU HAVE!

OP:

*okie dokie*

I reccomend that you fix what you have with the parts you got from the other harness.

It's a real headache in most cases to swap out the whole harness, if you were going to do that it would be a good time to do a wire tuck and shorten/re-route and eliminate some stuff though.

Another question.. I understand that over heated wires can send the transmission into SAFE MODE. But could that also make the car have converter problems... such as when it get up to Temps it bogs from a light and I can't stall it up or pulls the rpm down at idle.. transmission shifts perfectly

Just my $.02 for your 1st question. You probably already know but suggest remembering when splicing and soldering wires you can change the resistance in the wire.
