Evap and pcv line modification
I decided to upgrade my whole system and thought I would share how I it.
This is my engine as it is today. (Still need to put on the lower radiator hose, I also am making a bracket for the passenger side catch can that isnt done in this 1st picture) This is the passenger side pcv line. I am going to assume everyone interested in doing this knows or can figure out how to take off the valve cover so I won't be covering that. Once the valve cover is off I removed the air vent pipe, it just pulls out with a little twisting. Then I drilled out the hole with a 7/16 and used a 1/4 20×18 tap. You have to go slow and clean out the hole frequently so you dont get metal shavings stuck in the valve cover. Drill it all the way into the cavity. Then tap all the way until you have 3 threads left showing on the tap still sticking out of the valve cover. Once I had it drilled I used teflon paste on the fitting (1/4 20×18 to -6an) then attached a 90* -6an to that.(stainless steel line attached to the 90*) As soon as I installed the new line I noticed that the bracket on my flipped fuel rail made the new line curve in a weird way, So I cut the bracket tab off with my cut off wheel, I just moved the new fitting out of that way and whacked it off, you may want to go about it a different way or just leave it, but it drove me nuts. After I cut it off and turned the injector a little it laid a lot better. Now I attached it to my catch can. How you attach the line to your catch can will depend on what can you have. Now for the drivers side. When I pulled the vent out it was already a 7/16 hole so I was able to run the tap in with out drilling it. By tapping all the way until you have 3 threads sticking out allows the 1/4npt x 18 to seat perfectly. Here is the full line attached to the new piece back to the drivers side catch can. (I have 2 catch cans because I like balance lol) Now for the two ports on the intake manifold behind the throttle body. It is very straight forward, i pulled the intake off and I just drilled and tapped both sides. On the driver side you will end up breaking threw some of the side wall material with the tap. So I seated both fittings with this stuff. I coated the threads You can see where you should add more epoxy to guarantee a perfect seal. Once both sides are tapped and the epoxy sealed fittings are in place you are ready to run the last two lines. The biggest reason I did this mod is that I did not like how passenger side lines wrapped over to the drivers side of the throttle body and vice versa with the drivers side to the passenger side. (Pics and more info coming on what I did for the evap solenoid) Last edited by Tarendor; 09-15-2018 at 11:26 AM. Reason: Adding more content |

I've got a catch canon the dirty side (valley cover to behind TB), but does the LS3/L99 still suck oil through the clean side (CAI to passengers side valve cover)?

Not really but it does pull a small amount of condensation out. I have the dirty side done like the clean side. Few small differences but basically the same.
