My torque converter was replaced at 1200 miles (2018 Camaro SS) and the shudder has returned at 4k. I have a service appointment in the morning. Oh yeah, my rear end groans as well. I'm curious what "fix" is going to resolve the issue this time (besides a fluid change WTF?). When I drove it to the dealership the first time, I could hear my TC/transmission grinding like a MF (they said my TC was full of rust and destroyed). Hope they fix it this time, if not, they will have one more shot at it. Love the car but this is BS.

Water must've gotten in the TC somehow, that's weird....What does the rear end groan sound like? I'll be sure to listen for it now.

To be honest with the magnaride my car rides like a caddy, is really quiet and drives great, and is fun as hell. I love it. Granted it only has 9k miles on it. It's just that damn shudder every once in a while.

I had the original flush done at 29K miles. It was at the dealership last week for something else and I asked them to check the transmission because of the slow shift from 1st to 2nd. They went ahead and did the new flush. I'll see how it goes.

Unless someone snuck into my garage, jacked my car up, and then filled the transmission with water... I doubt water was able to get in the TC. The groan happens every morning during the first turn or two, its sounds like a whale making sounds (youtube it).

If there was rust, it had to have gotten water in there somehow. Unless they didn't inspect the TC when installing.

A whale eh? I think I would know if I have that then. Thanks!

Had 18-NA-355 and 17-NA-287 performed yesterday... hopefully the last time I have to deal with it. I have my fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath.

Any update?

My appointment is at 4:30. If I can get them to do the new flush, i'll update after 300-400 miles.

Horrible to hear there are still issues regarding the shudder. I foresaw this coming and grudgingly unloaded my 2017 Camaro RS. I had so many shudder problems and created and responded to many posts on this forum.

What I wonder is has it been addressed on the 2019 cars and trucks? The 8 speed transmission seems like it's here to stay awhile and still used on Camaros, Silverados and Colorados. I really like the Colorados and the only thing holding me back from getting one is that darn 8 speed and all the non resolvable issues I had with it in my Camaro forcing me out of an otherwise really nice car.

According to my dealer when I took it in (gets flushed this Thursday), the shudder happens on Chevy and GMC trucks with the a8, corvettes with the a8, cadillacs with the a8, and all chevys with the a8. And the a10 uses the same torque converter, or so they said. Looks like this problem is here to stay. I will update after I get the new flush.

Same here, but my issue was/is the AFM and the PVC issues that took 5 model years on the trucks/subs for GM to get HALFWAY corrected. Would like a new Camaro or truck but tired of the GM visits and the issues of the trans and the unproven DFM.

Had mine done today and to me the car doesn’t shift as smooth as it used to shift. I still can tell when the AFM kicks in. Still has a little shudder. I’m gonna drive it the 399 of the recommended 400 miles.

I did not even have to mention the tranny fluid TSB at all. The service rep at the dealer where the original owner took my car is the one that mentioned that I should bring it in to get the transmission flush done on it after I bought it. They went ahead and did the 3xflush for me. He also took it upon himself to put the torque converter TSB on the list, but the techs did not see any issues with the TC and he did not want to press the issue since the car only had 1,400 miles on it. He said that if he were to press the issue with such low mileage on the car that GM would flag me as "one of those guys that reads the forums and wants to get TSB's done" and they would start rejecting most/all of my requests. :O

He said that if I do indeed feel the TC issues later on the down the road that he could get me a new TC then.

Tex
