Tire setups for supercharged cars.
My whipple has been on for about 2 weeks now so I put my 295/45r17 MTs on to see how it will launch. To my surprise I can not get this thing out of the hole on the street hard enough to break a 4.2 0-60 on the stock gauge. I had this same wheel setup on my fbo, cam, e85 lsa g8 and I could get it to hook by 30-40 with some peddle work.
What combo setups are you guys running on the street with some success? Am I missing some trick to a great launch with these cars? Car is a 16 ss, a8. Only mod is the whipple with a can whipple tune. |

I ran the Hoosier Drag Pack with Race Star wheels and never had an issue at 700 rwhp. I switched over the winter to M/T Street R's on the rear and the SR up front. Haven't been able to totally hook it like last year, I do have an extra 100 rwhp this year which might be some of the problem, wish I'd stayed with the Hoosiers slicks.

Are you trying to launch the car on a bare road or a prepped road? Get some VHT, do a rolling burnout, then light it on fire. These cars spin like crazy regardless of tire on an un-prepped road.

I have a Whipple and pulled a 3.3 0-60 without much effort running a 305/35/20 555r on a Unprepped concrete road. Asphalt will not hook nearly as well from my experience. I have a custom tune but from what I have heard Whipple sets the tip in throttle on their canned tune so aggressive that the tires spin easily...a lot of the low end torque can be manipulated in the tune.

I have the whipple with MT 305s. They hoook good at the track but are not great on the street. Both the nitto nt555r and toyo r888 are supposed to be better on the street. I am looking at buying the nt555r for the street. I have been thinking about launching in 2nd on the street to see what that does.

I wish nitto made a 555 that would work on a 17 for our cars. Maybe I’ll bite the bullet and get a set for the rear factory wheels.
The throttle tip in is very aggressive. I plan on getting a custom tune when I put meth on it. Not looking to add power on meth just cool these pistons down. Steel thank you for your MAP plug video. I watched it right after my car went into limp home mode . |

I have been doing some testing with a combination of E50 and meth. Hoping to do some track testing this next weekend. |
