Spark Plug For Nitrous?

Looking for recommendations for spark plugs to use for a 200 to 300 shot of nitrous. Car is currently making 606/511 na. I’m currently using iridium plugs but have heard they may not be best for nitrous.

Those are big shots. I run the NGK LTR6IX which is one step colder for my Magnuson 2650 setup. I have a set of 7IXs also that I may run which is 2 steps colder. Gap is .028 on mine. Not sure if that helps you with the NOS setup or not.

I’m currently running the 7IX for my na setup. I’ve heard that the iridium plugs don’t like the nitrous and was wondering if anyone’s tried a platinum plug with success?

You shouldn't run the same heat range plug for boost or NA as you do Nitrous. A big shot like that requires a non projected tip and likely 3 heat ranges colder from stock. Plenty of info on LS1tech regarding correct plug, heat range, and gap that will apply to your setup. Something like a NGK br8ef or comparable Brisk.

I had just ordered mine and switched the new ones back to the 7IX. Decided the 6IX just wasn't cold enough for 850 rwhp. Some guys are running the Brisk also and not the NGKs

Yes but it's not even all about heat range. We run projected tip plugs in boost and NA setups. If you run projected tip plugs on a Nitrous setup around 150 shot and above they can act like glow plugs and cause detonation.

Most don't run Iridium on a Nitrous car because they are expensive and get changed frequently. You have to run colder then boost or NA, plus the non projected tip tend to foul easier.

My opinion would be to run a 150 shot on a non projected tip 7 heat range. Above 200 you really should consider direct port instead of a plate for better distribution.

My best advice would be to call Dave or Brandon at Nitrous Outlet and get some professional opinions.

I agree, I just noted that I switched mine to a 7 since I had posted otherwise. Good idea on the call Nitrous Express.

Thanks, I'll give Dave a call. The 150 shot was easy but stepping up seems to be a different ballgame all together. Just checking here to see if anyone had real world experience.
