Calgary Police go nuts
Just a heads up to anyone headed through Calgary this week.
This morning, on my way to work (55 kms one-way), my car got hit by laser from the Calgary Police SEVEN times! I drive the Okotoks to North Calgary route (usually along Deerfoot Trail and 16th Ave N) every morning, and the CP are out in full force. Apparently they need the money in these hard economic times. Usually they turn up the heat in the last week of each month... but today was INSANE! I have never seen so many laser hits in one drive in to Calgary. Three from tripod mounted lasers. Along the two construction sites on Deerfoot Trail, and rounding the curve leading to Memorial Drive. Two from oncoming CP cruisers (Anderson exit and Glenmore exit) One from a "stealth" cruiser. White pickup truck with blue stripes. One from a completely unknown source. Obviously the CP have a new unmarked stealth vehicle on Deerfoot Trail. Just letting y`all know, in the interests of this community. Be careful out there.

Their doing TONS of roadwork on Deerfoot it's crap. Goes from 100 - 80 - 100 - 80 - 50 - 100 - 110 - 80 - 110. Some of these reduced speed signs just pop up over night. The police are definitely using the construction to their advantage.
Now don't get me wrong I'm a supplier to the construction industry and I can relate to reduced speeds in construction zones. However sometimes the police are there, and there is absolutly no construction going on. Just some cones or barrels up to indicate construction may be present. Other areas where there are workers present I think a police presence is necessary because if it goes from a normal 110 km/h to 80km/h there will still be some jackasses who want to do 120 km/h. |

I got nailed years ago, in Texas (1980); I came to a small town construction zone, slowed down, cleared the actual construction, saw the 'End Construction' sign up ahead, started acceleratiing - then the STC (Small Town Cop) lit me up. TECHNICALLY I was still in the zone because I hadn't cleared the last of the orange cones.
No break for a soldier (I was heading home on leave), hauled me back to the courthouse in town and imposed a fine. It was over $100 if I remember. BTW it was a Saturday, so there weren't even any workers on that stretch of road. F'n revenuers! |

HWY 63 was just as crazy on Tuesday when I was heading north to Fort McMurray from Edmonton! I saw six total. Four of those were between Marianna Lake and Fort Mac (last hour of the trip) and they were pulling over cars everywhere!
For about 5min, I was followed closely by two when one at a time, they'd nab someone heading south. Something's on the go!

This is the right time of year for the spring counter attack in. Not surprizing, there targeting aggressive drivers in BC right now. Most Camaro owners would fall in into that catergory, just by virtue of the car.

My laser jammer squeals like crazy when I get hit directly with a laser. It jams their laser gun and they are unable to get a "lock" on me. Needless to say, while legal in these parts they are NOT happy when that happens. The jammer squeals like a mofo, though. On that day, my jammer screamed seven times!!! Talk about overkill!!!!!! Speaking of which, I took the 16th Ave N exit off of Deerfoot Trail this morning. Waited at the lights. When I finally drove west down 16th Ave I came over the hill and got laser shot by a tripod on the north side of the road (trailer park - popular spot). I was NOT going over the limit (always careful there)... but it was obvious the police officer couldn't get a "lock" on me as he stepped out and pointed at me. Talk about ice going through your veins!!!! But he just pointed at me, then when I braked he laughed. That's right, he LAUGHED and walked behind the tripod. In hindsight, I think he could tell I was not speeding, but couldn't lock on, and decided to let me know. So if that cop is reading these forums, I salute you! You scared the s*** out of me! LOL! Nice work. I drove VERY carefully the rest of the way to work.

Do-nut Eaters
Yes I also made a donation to Doughnut Eaters anonymous.
They are defiantly raping lots of people at the construction sites at the north end of Deerfoot to. All cops are dicks as far as I am concerned and I expressed that opinion to the guy who had icing sugar all over his uniform when he stop me. |
