"Remembrance Day"

Since there are other countries present in this forum, I thought I would respond with my own country at heart.

When the world needs us, we are there. Always. No other country has our track record when it comes to world peacekeeping.
In fact, the term "peacekeeping" entered into the world's vocabulary due to a Canadian.

When WWI broke out... 24 hours later we were there.
When WWII erupted... a week later Canada entered the fray.
Afghanistan? Canada was one of the FIRST on the ground... doing what we can to stabilize a chaotic world. We recently (one day ago) resonded to NATO, and agree to keep our troops in Afghanistan longer than anticipated. To stabilize the economy and help train nationals economically and politically, to lead in a democratic majority. I served my time in Kandahar, tasted the sand in my food and felt the sunburn day after day (yeah, a curse of being a ginger).

I am enormously proud of Canada, and our tradition to monitoring peace worldwide. I served, and would do so again, for one of the greatest nations on Earth.

Okay, fine... in my opinion... without a doubt, the GREATEST nation on Earth.

For the True North, Strong and Free!

We bleed red, for the Red & White.

Reminds me of a good WWII story ...

At a POW camp in Bowmanville (east of Toronto, near Oshawa), a couple hundred Germans took control of portions of the camp using makeshift weapons. To fight back, the Canadians put down their guns and armed themselves with baseball bats (I assume they didn't want to break their hockey sticks). During the ensuing brawl, the most serious injury was a Canadian with a fractured skull, due to a jar of jam. Afterward, its said that the Canadians congratulated their opponents for putting up a good fight and everyone carried on as they were before the whole incident started.
