The history channel does a show on booze and its in it, they show an elbrate method to drink Absinthe proper.

It was quiet a setup just to make it drinkable.

I saw that too. I hear it's a different kind of drunk though. My roomie's got a bottle, I might have to partake.

Gin is like that, its a different drunk, you don't get sloppy drunk like other booze.

First hand experience here. Lucid was the brand that I tried and it was available in Hanover, PA (being a state founded by quakers, I think you can get it anywhere if you look hard enough)

Drank it the method with sugar, and hated it: it tastes very strongly like anise......or similar to black licorice if you dont know what anise is.

Girlfriend mentioned it had a "herby" flavor, so we decided to mix it with some cheap ice-tea and was much happier with it. It hid the anise flavor very nicely.

No weird experiences, just got drunk, we finished the bottle in two nights.

EXPENSIVE

I have a bottle of the Lucid brand, and yes, it's very, very disgusting. It was also $65 for the bottle. Just typing this brings the horrible licorice and rubbing alcohol taste to back of my mouth. Almost enough to gag.

I drank it proper over an ice water/sugar cube drip. I'm not sure what the proof is, probably 120, but I bought it at a local liquor store last summer. It's about half full still, so it rarely gets used.

It is a different kind of drunk, from what I remember.. Not one I can describe, but definitely not a sloppy drunk - more of a clairvoyant type of drunk.

Beware of Gin. It by-passes your liver.

It's good when served correctly. It involves disolving a sugar cube in water and mixing it into the alcohol. It tastes like black licorish

i bought a bottle of this when i was coming back from my first deployment when we stopped in germany. it stayed in my room for a long time, i dislike the taste of licorish. now i can say i'm a drinker and i can take quite a bit of liquor but i took 2 and a half shots of this stuff and i was completely wasted.

this is the one that i got it last me a whole year

I bought a bottle of "Absente" at Big Daddy's Liquors in Fort Worth. That's some nasty shit. Pouring it over a cube of sugar definitely made it taste better.
