Maybe some of you with an A10 and the LT1 engine could advise me at how docile the car is when driven normally.
I'm thinking about trading in my 2008 Corvette because it's not much good to us as a second car because of the 6 spd manual. I can't get my wife to drive it at all. Thinking of getting a new LT1 model but want her to be able to drive it safely and with no complaints. She's not a car person at all.

I can drive my SS/A10 very much in a controlled docile fashion. It's easy. But you're just a tap of the throttle away from a jolt of power.
It's up to the driver really. If your wife respects the power, she should be fine. But it's an easy car to drive controlled and normally. You're just often tempted not to. |

This... plus you can control how you drive your v8.. shifting at 4k in an lt1 is still more thrilling than wot in the i4 imo.

What it all boils down to is your personal preference. For me, I would not even consider a pony car without a V8.

I only put 4900 miles on my 2 SS Vert in 2 1/2 years but got the V8 for the sound alone but the power when I want to get a thrill is awesome. I am retired and don't put a lot of miles on a car but when I do drive I want a performance car.

I can't imagine having a 2ss for 2 1/2+ years and not even having 5k miles on the car. :P

Quite common to find with sports/muscle cars where they are a 3rd/4th/5th vehicle in the garage. My 2013 ZL1 only has 6k miles

If I drove my Camaro once a month, I wouldn't bother owning it....unless it was my only car and that's all the driving I did.....which again seems weird.

Our other car is a GMC Acadia and she likes driving that. Every once in a while I'd like to drive that one and leave her with the second car (Camaro) but it wouldn't be often. A couple of weeks ago she had to take a short trip but I really needed the Acadia when she was gone. She absolutely wouldn't take the Corvette because of the stick shift. Also ,she doesn't like the fact that the car is so low. This is when I really started thinking about trading the Vette off. I bought that car new and will miss it when it's gone but figured having a Camaro with an LT1 and an A10 might take the sting away pretty fast!

Well, you sit low in the Camaro too albeit not not as low as the Corvette. And visibility isn't the greatest but I'm used to it. You'd have to let your wife test drive the SS. I personally would never refuse to drive a Vette manual....nope.
