Navigation Question

I just picked up a 2023 ZL1 this past Sunday. When I went to enter my address for the drive home a message saying that the navigation would stop in 4 days because the free subscription was running out. Is the navigation controlled by Onstar or something else? I have no desire to pay for Onstar so it can track every move i make while in the car.
Thank you

I believe there’s two different types of Navigation. One through OnStar which is a subscription service and the other that is an additional RPO option from factory which adds Nav to the head unit as a standalone. Check your window sticker to see if you were charged for the 8” with Nav around $1k

Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium with Navigation is on the window sticker. That is why I am confused.

There’s a chance you’re using the OnStar maps instead of the built in then, you’re using the map button from the Home Screen on the radio? Green circle on bottom right

Your instincts are right - you don’t need to maintain an OnStar subscription to use the Chevy navigation that comes with that option. I think it’s currently called “Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System with Navigation and 8" diagonal HD color touchscreen”.

Now, I haven’t used Chevy navigation save for about the very first 6 months - then I got my wireless CarPlay adapter installed - CPLAY2Air. It’s been Apple Maps since then.
