Gen 2 PDR

Anyone have any insight as to whether the 2022 Camaros will be equipped with the gen 2 PDR from the 2022 Blackwings or whether we will be able to change/upgrade it in the camaro?

I know my 2022 SS 1LE PDR is crap compared to my previous 2020 SS 1LE PDR.

I ordered a used PDR on ebay from a salvage ZL1, should be on the mailbox tomorrow.

Like many others i prefer to fix small issues myself and not deal with carelessness from the service dept.

Could you expand on how the 2022 is worse than the 2020? I was not aware they were different.

Thanks!

Geoff

Only the Blackwing and C8 get the new PDR. It requires the new computing platform.

@mano_camaro, I'd still be interested to hear what the differences you saw between your 2020 and 2022 unit, and specifically what part got worse?

Thanks,

Geoff

Greetings Geoff, the PDR is all the same still, but the one in my 22' 1LE had poor color issues with green and purple shadows all over, likely from a bad batch of PDR camera lens or something.

The 2020 1LE. PDR previously was very clear in comparison.

I installed the used PDR camera from ebay and is a little better so far.

I know adding the 2SS PDR deletes Forward Collision Alert. Does anyone understand why? I'm trying to decide whether or not to include it when I order.

The cameras are probably different between the two options but compete for the same physical space and/or connectivity.

That makes sense. For me, the PDR is a nice to have because I'm a data junkie. Although I hope to track the car I'm not sure how necessary it is. So I'll probably not include it in my build.

No you cannot. It's not just the camera that is changed out. It's also the computer on the backend.

Nope, as stated above, there's a brick wall between 2016-2018 and 2019+ in the form of a new architecture that is not backward compatible. Nothing is impossible per se, but this would most likely turn into a very impractical rabbit hole.
