It reads current from a wire without cutting or splicing the wire so you can get an rpm signal for a tach or shift light. This way you do not butcher your stock harness all up trying to wire one in. They work awesome!

Yes, I had one of these for my 5th gens. This works on the LT1? It's working fro you? I couldn't get a pulse test light out of the coil wire. If it does work I will ditch the ODB2 setup. It's a bit of a PIA when logging.

I haven't installed mine yet, have been involved in other stuff with the car. We just got back from our house in Dayonta so I haven't touched it in a few days. The GMR is only picking up signal coming across your coil wire, should be purple. I see no reason why it wouldn't work, but I could b wrong. I haven't actually done it yet.

It doesn't stick out enough for me on my nGauge. Isn't bright enough and doesn't signal enough to me lol. It is neat, but just isn't useful for me on mine. This light has a few big leds that really stand out and it's bright so it catches my attention when I'm focusing straight ahead.

An OBD2 splitter? I did not know there was such a thing. But if the GMR thing works then I will buy the shift gauge I should have bought and the pickup. Then will I redo the spaghetti mess under the dash for the fourth time.

I even asked Autometer if the pickup works on our cars. But no reply.

Wow here it is:

https://www.amazon.com/Diageng-Right...=odb2+splitter

Also 4.10s are on the way!!
Edit, 4.10s never happened. I want to the dark side: Auto.

I don't think you are understanding how a GMR pick up works. It works on any car that sends a signal to fire through a wire. It's picking up voltage going though the wire. I really don't see how it couldn't work

I understand that part. But is there a distinct signal? Wouldn't that pulse a test light?

I guess I could spend $60 to find out. I've wasted so much money on cars what's another $60.

Awesome build BTW. You will be way into the 10s once you get it sorted.

I'll let you know later tonight how it works. It's really just using a pulse to sense the coil signal wire and using that pulse for RPM. You are right in that the signal is weaker on these than older style engines, but you can set the PPR to .5 and turn your GMR up and have no issues. I use GMR pick ups at work on heavily insulated wires that send extremely weak feedback signals and have no issues reading them. I think we will be alright with this, but I'll let you know for sure later on. As soon as I find a website with the VSS wire on a diagram, I'm going to head down and hook my light up. This way you'll know for sure before buying it.

I just installed my raptor last night and i couldn’t get it to work and i attached green wire to pin C on #1 coil blue wire with purple tracer and had ppr set to 8 cylinder mode. I even tried the 1/2 ppr and I believe it went into error mode
