FWIW, with my low-grip "winter tires" on the car (245/50/18 Toyo Versado pieces of crap), in Race mode with all nannies off, my 1LE will spin the tires from a roll in 1st gear. With my autocross tires on (305/30/19 Falken RT660), it will not...but it will spin them if I launch too hard on these tires. There may well be some torque management going on, but there does not appear to be traction control intervening in this mode.

Same with my 255 winter tires. The car easily overpowers them.

Not lighting up the rear end when you punch it is very surprising to hear. My 1LE does nothing but spin the tires no matter if I have the nannies on or off. With traction control off, at least it saves on brake dust.
Also, no lift-shift 1st to 2nd at 5500RPM lit the rear end up and put me sideways for a moment.

Yeah, I thought the Hendrick SS I had in Vegas a couple weeks ago did not feel all that fast in 125°.

Gotta be the heat making the tires extra sticky like others have said. Even my lowly V6 1LE can light 'em up in 1st gear and chirps into 2nd.
Once it cools down try again and report back! |

It's mostly likely your technique. If you are actually trying to spin them with that method, then no wonder you are having issues. While Altitude/DA is a consideration, I had an F-Body when I lived at 10,000ft and it would spin the wheels all day. Get better with your technique and you'll have no problems.

Honestly, I'm kind of jealous. My 2019 1LE can't put the power down to save its life. It's on Nitto 555 G2's and it just blitzes them, no matter what. Even using launch control, if I don't just feather the clutch, it'll break loose at 30+mph and never hook back up. Pretty frustrating, actually.

I know I'm late to the party, but I have a 2020 2ss 1le as well and I can spin the tires in sport mode with nannies on (my normal drive setting).
Yes, these tires can grip a bit, but I've never had a problem breaking them lose anytime the mood strikes.

I live in Las Vegas as well and have a 2021 2ss 1le. No issues lighting up the tires in 125 degree heat. It does not matter what the temperature is. Nannies on nannies off...no problem. I can even be on the freeway doing 70mph and the car will go sideways when i romp on it.

I will have my son drive behind me on the freeway with his go pro. It scared the crap out of me the first time it did it. I am used to it now but my wife hates it.
