Ive ordered 2 different Camaros and put down deposits both times. I believe your situation/scenario is the exception, not the rule.

I ordered my 2021 zl1 1le in shock color on Jan 14 with $5000 deposit.
And my order had accepted by GM in the first week of Feb. When I asked my order status in ealier march, I got the tentative build week of May 3rd with status code 3000. Then as you know the production halted, I had received a update to move the tenative build week to June 21st . Yesterday, I found the production has been halted again until the end Jun. I checked with my dealer today. They said car has a target build week of July 5th, and it will be still a 2021model. Should I change it to 2022 model? |

I ordered from Wilson Niblett Motors Ltd. a canadian dealership in Toronto. They are (they said THEY ARE...) the largest dealership in the town, so that I just got the allocation once I put my order.

I’m familiar with Wilson Niblett. I’m just outside Hamilton. They had a Callaway for sale there. I would still stick with your order if I was in your shoes. Just my opinion. Congrats on the order. You’ll love the car.

Yes, I tested drive the callaway 750 when I ordered my zl1 1le. The car is great and unique. However, it is an automatic ... and I was looking for a manual. |

If you change your order to a 2022 you will have to pick a different color as Shock is being replaced by Rapid Blue. I'd leave it be if you're set on Shock!

Hi! How were you able to track it using China post tracking? What information do I need to be able to do that? Thank you in advance for your help!

Neither. Most dealers will require a deposit as earnest money to place a custom build order. I gave $500, refundable. That seems pretty common. I’ve seen some people only have to put down $200, other put down $1,000.
Some dealers will say they require $1,000-$2,000 non-refundable. One dealer I talked with tried that… I stopped talking with them.

$500 deposit for an order is a good going rate, less would be even better, make sure you get in writing that its refundable under your terms, meaning you have an out if another dealer can do better in terms of allocation. Anything higher touching $1k/2K, I would question and reconsider it.

The only time I ran into a deposit was the non-typical colors or model that they don't normally think that they can easily sell if you back out.

And sadly, these days, manual transmission falls into that category...

My local dealer didn't require a deposit, nor to even see my face. Their attitude is that they'll sell it to somebody if I back out. I bought one vehicle from that franchise about 5 years ago, so it's not like I'm their #1 customer or anything.

My dealer asked for a $500 deposit for my order. I ordered a 2022 LT1 in a Manual. The deposit was refundable or could be put towards the car as a down-payment. In the past, I put down a deposit on an in transit vehicle to ensure I'd have first dibs on it when it came in. I'd definitely say it's worth it, especially if it's only $500.
