While I was in law enforcement (now retired), for a few years I had a 2012 Dodge Charger with the 5.7 V8 HEMI. It s a good strong motor and ran really well. It was everything else on the car that needed to be fixed or repaired weekly.

I think by the comments people would be surprised by real world results from not long ago.
The 5th Generation Mustang was made from 2004-2014
The Dodge Challenger SRT8 was made from 2008-2014
The 5th Generation Camaro was made from 2010-2015
Even though that 5th Generation Camaro was made after its competition, look how they performed
on the Virginia International Raceway 4.1 mile track consisting of tight hairpin turns and
short straight-aways. No one would expect these results:
3rd place (189th place all-time) 2010 Camaro SS 3:09.5
2nd place (188th place all-time) 2012 Challenger SRT8 392 3:09.4
1st place (182nd place all-time) 2011 Mustang GT 3:08.6

Who would have thought that, what one person above called "a boat" would beat out the Camaro on
a track, let alone all 3 cars be so closely matched.

Obviously, since then things have changed. We don't have a time for a modern Scat Pack or a Hellcat
Redeye on the list, even though we have a 2018 Challenger Hellcat Widebody putting in a 2:59.8 lap.
It's hard to believe that a muscle car - and not one pretending to be a sports car, beat a
2006 Ford GT
2015 BMW M4
2008 Corvette Z51
2007 Porsche 911 GT3
2014 Audi RS7
2017 Audi S8 Plus
to name a few.
Much better than I expected for a "boat."

We may owe it to the competition created between manufacturers that Chevy and Ford responded with:
14th all-time 2020 Ford Mustang GT500
17th all-time 2019 Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE
The only thing from Dodge that beats that is the 2016 Viper.
Look how a Camaro and a Mustang can both beat out a $185,000 Mclaren 570S and others that cost over $200k!

My points I'm making are simple:
Point 1. Whoever stands at the top won't stand there long. Things change quickly.
Point 2. A Dodge Challenger is not a boat. It also isn't pretending to be a sports car. That said, Jason Hart's
Speedlogix Challenger finished pole position on fastest lap time at Watkins Glen competing only against Camaro's
and Mustangs. The 2nd place position was a Camaro finishing a lap time almost 2 seconds slower..
If Dodge wanted to make a track car, they could. They tend to go for the drag strip instead.

Our 2020 Redeye widebody with rear seat delete was the most comfortable fast car I have ever driven. Just not enough tire in the rear to have too much fun.

Rumor has it their 2023 farewell edition Hellcat will have 909 horsepower or even more. That'd be crazy, 2x as much as the Camaro SS, but Dodge may just pull it out of their hat.
