1LE/ZL1 fuel system differences
Hey, I have a 21’ 1LE that I plan to put a Maggie on and I’m looking at making similar power as the ZL1, maybe slightly more. I have read in places that the 1LE might have different fuel system components than the SS? What exactly would I need to upgrade? Also, I’m looking for opinions on piston ring gap (I would rather do water/meth if that alone is safe) thanks!

The 1le share the same fuel pump in the tank as the Zl1 so you'll have to upgrade the High pressure pump and injectors. As far as ring gap I'd talk to an actual engine builder they will be able to sort you out.

If all you're looking for is ZL1 power (~550whp), you can safely get there on the LT1 fuel system & bottom end.

I never really researched it but for some reason I was thinking they would hit close to 600whp but that’s not right. I would like to be 600-650whp range

Stock ZL1's are usually around 550whp. To get to 600 - 650, you will need the LT4 hpfp and injectors.

If you add the LT4 fueling, you can add some E into the mix. That will help cool the charge significantly and help prevent an issue with the ring gaps. I know that statement will stir the pot for some, but every single grenaded LT1 stock short block I’ve seen was due to a fuel or tuning issue. Every time, without fail. Fuel it right and you’ve done yourself a huge favor.

Sure, but I’d use a 50/50 water/meth mix instead of just meth. You’ll only need 6-7 psi of boost to get to that power level anyway, so not much heat there thankfully.

You do not need water meth and I strongly recommend against it.
