I just bought a set of Recaro seats (from a 1LE) and attempted to install them in my 1SS. The seats are amazing, and I was excited to get them installed. Everything was fine until I tried to move the seat using the power controls. Apparently I missed the memo that a 1SS doesn't match up with the Recaros as is.

Is there any way to make this swap work without taking the harness off my old seat and putting it on the Recaro seat? I tried this, but I am not nearly handy enough to pull that off. Does anyone make an adapter? Any other suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated. I'd love to get these installed.

It really sucked having them installed and not work. I should have done my homework a little more thoroughly, I suppose :-(

i know lethal did a zl1 seat swap but he had a 2ss so maybe the harness is alreaday there but not on 1ss?

Yep. The Recaro seems to be compatible with a 2SS, just not a 1SS, even though the 2017 1LE is a 1SS...ugh.

Swap out your seat harness from your 1SS seats to the Recaro’s maybe?

That seems to be the solution, but I’m not terribly handy. I tried once and failed. Any advice on swapping them/disassembling the seat?

Have you gotten into swapping the harness yet? Was wondering how everything turned out for you.

I am not smart enough to swap the harness (even though it doesn't seem terribly difficult). I am going to post a thread asking for advice, or I might take it to a shop. I also might sell them. I'm so fed up with this project at this point.

I’m not sure whether to buy a set of Recaro’s out of a 1SS 1LE and take on the swap or throw the towel with the idea. If I already had the seats I would do it. I’ve installed factory leather seat covers on my old 2010 Camaro so I know a little about taking the seat apart. If that’s what’s required. Were the 1LE seats out of a 1SS 1LE or 2SS 1LE, just curious.

The seats were out of a 1SS 1LE. A buddy and his mechanic friend are coming over tomorrow to swap the harness. I'll let you know. This is the last shot for me, but it is supposed to work.

I got them installed today! A friend of a friend did most of the work. Swapping the harness on the stock driver seat with the one on the Recaro seat DOES work. The passenger seat needs no modifications. It works as is.

I will post some pics of the process tomorrow.

I took the car out to test out the seats, and they are better than I expected. I have sat in them before, but driving with them installed really showed how fantastic they are. This process has been a huge pain, but in the end, it was completely worth it.
