Steering Concerns

Anyone experiencing steering issues? My car will try to pull left randomly when driving through a right curve. It pulled the car over the center line the first time it happened. The behavior can be reproduced in all modes with different drivers. Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

That's concerning enough that I would call your dealer right away and get the car to them. If it truly is an issue with your car, I wouldn't want to drive it.

Sounds like a potential issue with the electric steering. Have it looked at ASAP.

UPDATE. Took it to the dealer and was able to demonstrate the issue to them. It pulled hard left again today. It's more severe if your on the throttle, but never on a left turn. Only right. The car isn't reporting any codes. I'll post more after another tech looks at it tomorrow.

Cars are designed to pull slightly to the right just so you know..

Apparently that's a myth: http://www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/77

Myth: All cars are supposed to pull to the right.

Fact: Most roads are sloped slightly towards the side with the drainage. This is often on the right side, but not always. Gravity causes the vehicle to roll down a slope. Skilled technicians allow for road crown to deliver a vehicle that drives straight on the majority of roads.
I think for sports cars, you'd want 'em to drive straight. I find it irritating if I have to hold an unexpected control input (which being trimmed right would cause).

I stand corrected. Guess most techs don't correct for it though : /

Atra, I'm not sure it's true or not, just a quick google. I DO know I had an alignment issue once (where it pulled to the right, bad) and was told "Naaa.. they all do that." Ok, drive it. "Whoa. Yeah. That's pretty bad."

So I guess I try to stamp out this particular myth whereever I find it. lol.

Yeah, I'm not having my brand new car "pull to the right" at all, period. It didn't when I got the damn thing.

I don't know the specifics of the GM electric steering, but typically there is a torque sensor to measure the steering effort. If it's out of calibration (or down right defective), it may sense a torque being applied to the steering wheel that's not actually there, and then have the motor apply additional torque to assist. This will pull the wheels in whichever direction it thinks is required

UPDATE 2 ---- Dealer called today. GM tech suggested they replace the rack and pinion. I'm waiting on an ETA for the part. Didn't seem confident that it was the solution. Stay tuned...
