'Stretched' is when the wheel is unusually wide for the tire size, so I think you mean 'pinched' or 'squeezed' here - stretching a 275/30 tire too much would take a 10.5" wide wheel. I'm pretty sure that the non-1LE SS rims are either 8"/9" or 8.5"/9.5" depending on year, meaning they're too narrow for 275's/305's.

I'm not convinced that run-flats are the best way to go either.

Wouldn't runflats be heavier than non runflats of the same size? Maybe that additional unsprung weight is why the RFs give a harsher ride. Unpatchable tire holes are rare for me. So yea, be sure you have a patch kit, some helper tools, a pump, and long distance AAA towing.

Also on another thread people are saying Mustang die hards buy a new one every time they get updated. Nice to see you still have that GT! I could learn so much from you. I think to me, to come right down to it, maybe I could be happy with any V8 powered manual car that looks good to me and is fun to drive.

That’s what I meant to reply about the tires, Norm! Thanks for the clarification. IMHO there’s nothing wrong with runflats for people that aren’t enthusiasts like us!

And yes Fraxum, the runflats are heavier than the regular tires in the same sizes!

And the harshness comes from the stiff sidewalls. They need to support the weight of the car with zero air pressure.

Theoretically, the stiffer sidewalls should make for better handling. Yet I find my all-seasons have better handling along with (dramatically) less noise and harshness. "Trash" is probably on the extreme side for criticism, but I don't think Goodyear has a winner here.

Not made in Texas. Or the US for that matter.

Because regulations pushed them out of America with some tires. At least its an American Co. and the $$$ end up back here. As unnecessary regulations are being removed they are coming back.

Cooper's origins date back to 1914 with the production of tire patches, tire cement and tire repair kits as the M and M Manufacturing Company in Akron, Ohio. In 1915, the Giant Tire & Rubber Company of Akron was acquired, and in 1917 was moved to Findlay, Ohio, where Cooper is headquartered to this day. The firm has been producing tires under the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company name since 1946, with over 10,000 employees worldwide.
As an American company with a global footprint, Cooper has operations in a dozen countries and distributes tires around the world, with a primary focus on passenger car and light vehicle replacement tires in North America. In addition to the flagship Cooper line, the company owns Melksham, England-based Avon Tyres Limited and Dick Cepek Performance Tires & Wheels.
Tire Rack offers Cooper Zeon and Cobra Radial G/T performance tires and CS5 and CS3 touring tires, as well as Discoverer and Evolution light truck tires, along with other lines used as Original Equipment on new vehicles.

Cooper Tire Company is manufacturing tires in Tupelo, Mississippi and has been for over 25 years. Many friends and relatives have worked there. Currently, running 3 shifts 24 hours per day. They also manufacture tires under other names in Tupelo.

Yes, some of their tires are made in the US. The only tires that fit the Camaro are made in China.

Curious as to what qualifies the stock run flat tires as "trash" ? Can Mr. Kropscamaro16 please expand your description with reasons why. I will need new tires soon.

They aren't "trash" per se, but here are the compromises they entail in return for their good dry performance that I can think of: rougher ride and much more road noise than non-runflats, average wet traction at best and very low hydroplaning resistance (basically, hit a puddle -> enter pucker factor).
