And I will say the clutch and gearshift in the C7 feels the same as the M6 for those of us who have manuals (Ric, Heath, Myself are the manual guys lol).

Totally agreed. The gearing is a bit different at 6th though. That’s definitely our highway gear while the Vette pulls a bit better in 6th, but is a total dog in 7th.

My first car (‘84 Monte V6) was the only auto car I’ve owned. There’s nothing better than a proper stick shift, (except maybe the gated manuals). Speaking of, has anybody here done the short throw? Wondering if anybody has figured out a way to do this without dropping the tranny. I’m somewhat mechanically inclined, but that still does sound like a fun job.

I feel there’s still some pull in 6th. But that’s me. There’s a hill with a passing lane on my (long) way home that I can easily maintain speed or even accelerate pretty well when most have a problem just pulling the hill. (YMMV)

I also was looking at the short throw and I’ve not seen a way yet to install without dropping the tranny, which is a pretty big undertaking. Just not enough room. There was someone elsewhere on Camaro6 that did and their review didn’t convince me it was worth it (yet). I believe they had it done rather than doing it themselves. Still has my interest for sometime in the future but .....

Not trying to talk you out of it, just my thoughts. I’m a bit intimidated at this moment.

Now I’m feeling really bad about not being more diligent on my mile-age-stones.

Welcome to Club F1FTY BZ S S!!! joined early this year and this is definitely a great group and lots of information. I scanned, read thru most of the pages but when I joined there were fewer pages.

BTW, I was looking at a BRZ but ended up with the Camaro...got a great deal with more features. Enjoying every mile of it.

Happy Modding!!!

Glad you enjoy the M6 in your F1FTY. And true I will agree with the gearing difference there on the two cars.

And like Ric said the short throw sounds interesting but not wanting to drop the transmission here either.

Very cool Richard! Weather still HOT there in Texas? It’s still high 90s here. Supposedly a cool front this weekend coming in for us.

I was just saying in comparison to the C7 6th gear is a bit of a dog. It's been enough for me to maintain or pass on the highway, but how can you resist not slapping it down to the 4th every time and hearing the exhaust open up? I know I haven't been able to yet haha. Short throw will probably be towards the bottom of the list once we get settled in our new house.

The BRZ really was great, but these two cars just don't even compare. I had big plans for the BRZ (supercharger, cage, suspension upgrade all around, etc.), but just never had the time (or the funds honestly). The SS has plenty of power for me so just a few cosmetic upgrades and I'll be happy.

Also currently shopping for side markers, rock guards, an outdoor cover and possibly the side skirts. They look so good on the F1FTY.

The big bummer is missing out on the collectors pack you guys received with the new purchase. I checked with the social media team and they referred me to the GM Heritage team, but I struck out there. They said the stock was depleted in 2018 and also was not able to give me my build number. Judging by my build date vs the registry I figure I am in the 1000s.

I really enjoyed reading BZSS posts....
I grinned when he asked, ‘did anyone else notice the Fifty on the orange stripe on the hood?’
I remember I had test driven a ‘17 SS, and I loved the performance, but after the test drive, I was was still sort thinking a resto mod ‘69 SS was still in my future. But my son and I wandered over to the Camaro inventory, and as we approached the NFM convertible, we started noticing all the cool little nuances that make the FIFTY so awesome.
I think the ghosted in name in the stripe made me mutter, ‘I gotta have this one.’
Still no regrets

Well I got the ZL1 start button today and installed it in less than 10 minutes. Only PITA was getting the stop clip release on the old starter button. Otherwise it was a snap install.

I also discovered a few scratches around the button where it looks like the previous owner might have tried the same job, but the wrong way for sure. I’m kicking around the idea of buying a replacement plastic piece. Now that I saw that it’s going to kill me.

She’ll get the treatment she deserves with me though, that’s for sure.

Looks good, I reused my silver ring. So it's all midnight chrome. I'll get you a photo after work.

Very cool! And yes super simple mod. Yeah I spent more time getting the tools than actually doing it. I did same as Heath and kept the chrome for the new ZL1 button. Took a moment to figure out the collar to swap but once did, easy peasy.
