i have the Melling high volume pump. Summit's shipping is FAST!
ill also be ordering these lifters

i was told by a reputable source, the trunnion upgrade is not necessary. do i run a risk not upgrading?

There are people who have not upgraded the trunions and have had no problems at all. Can't really say for sure that there is no risk at all. The guy who is putting my cam in this week convinced me to do it. He told me you've gone this far, you might as well upgrade them. Plus the part only cost $115.

It's not a bad job for a first timer. I just finished mine and I had I ripped to bare bones! Just take your time and pay attention to detail. I would not personally waste my time with a stage 2 if you plan on changing springs and lifters. Go with a stage 3!

I second this. I too just finished my first swap. There is plenty of info on here to get the job done if you are halfway wrench-savvy. I would also go with at least the stage 3. I did the stage 3 cam package, as well as PRC head porting. It runs good, but already wanting more. Definitely wouldn't go with any smaller than the 3 if you are doing all that work!
