I'm going to guess that the one I have is their older program and the one you're talking about is the replacement program. They probably have just kept the old one going since so many people signed up for it and it doesn't really cost them much to keep it going. Of course, maybe they converted my program to the new one already.

I haven't been using that card for a long time now since I had maxed out on earnings. I don't even carry it any more. So, maybe now I'm on the "new" program. I'll have to check into it when I get home and find my account number and password for the website.

The current (new) GMCard goes by dollar amounts earned. There were some differences with the older GMCard as mentioned.

I used to have one a few years ago, cancelled it, and now have a new one.

I have just over $400 toward a new car at the moment.

Is it worth it? Yeah if you're someone that's going to totally pay the card off every month. Unfortunately I don't. So I've really paid them more in interest (cause the GMCard has a ridiculous interest rate) than I've earned.

I don't understand WHY the GMCard has such a high interest vs. other Mastercards. I'll probably cancel it after I've redeemed my $.

I think you answered your own question

True, but other cards offer rewards about equal to GMCard's without the crazy interest rate.

Ahhhh...the "minimum payments".... Credit Card companies hate me: somehow I manage to pay off every bill on time

so maybe the GM card might do me some good...I'm gonna look into it.

Yeah, I pay mine off in full every month as well. I treat it like a debit card, yet I'm building my credit for that eventual $35,000 car loan.

Don't quote me word for word on this, but I've heard from more than a couple friends that you really just need to call the company and tell them to lower your interest rate and if they won't, you're going to cancel the card and move to another lower interest provider.

If you don't have a decent to good track record, it might not work, but like I said, more than a couple of my friends have done it.

will GM credit card earnings work for the camaro?

ok so i have a GM credit card and i use it every day. i get 5% credit (of my total purchases) towards a new gm vehicle. i was curious if anyone knows if the points will be able to work on the camaro, you know ,being a new car and all. i checked out other cars to see what ones didnt apply, but most if not all of them do so far. even the vette, and most of the time discounts and certain incentives dont work on the vette. so if anyone knows anything about this, please help.

I'd like to assume it will. I would guess that you can use up to $1,000 towards the Camaro, that's how it is with the Vette.

Now...what is this GM credit card. I mean, how does it work? Just like a normal Credit card, but you get these points?

EDIT: Oh, dang...found a previous thread. Merged...

I'd assume that you'd get anywhere between $500.00 to $2,000.00

but it's probably best to make sure you can get the car without it as you may not be able to use the card on the camaro for the first couple years
