Reliability ratings are for cowards, buy what you want and let the critics be damned...

It's genuinely not meant to be a burn.

However, your entire line of reasoning is throwing caution to the wind when there is overwhelming evidence advising against it. And then saying if you DON'T do it, you're a coward...

I think they made a whole movie about ignoring statistics and following feelings, and it's called "Don't Look Up!" lol.

The Alfa is simply a car best leased, not bought. And if you DO buy it, you buy it knowing with a high level of certainty, it's going to cost you significantly more than maybe a comparable car from another make, simply because "Alfa". If you have the financial stability to afford that? Go for it. Telling people they are a coward if they don't simply follow their dreams is foolish, however.

And I have overwhelming evidence that the car is fine. Three full years of use with no issues. My barely used Camaro (only 11K miles) has been less reliable if we’re being honest. The Giulia, Giulia Sport, and Giulia Ti all share the engine and gearbox (2.0 and A8) with god knows how many Jeep products too which often see rugged use. It’s simply not the “crystal vase” you’re making it out to be.

My wife has a few however she has a great live in caretaker! SL550R convertible, her Dad's hot rodded Silverado (450 hp 6.0 Vortec, tranny and 4.11 gears) and her aunt's '67 Chevelle Malibu with now 13,800 miles on it. 283 w/ a powerglide, A\C, P\S. I added 4WDisc brakes and a complete Hotchkis suspension. And she can handle all of these vehicles very well!!

I see. My position was to say **** everything and actually follow your dreams versus reliability scales, ratings and financial savvy. All good!

That's fair, I see what you're TRYING to say I think. If you have the finances to handle it, then yes, absolutely!

To be clear, you have ANECDOTAL evidence. Overwhelming anecdotal evidence. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY happy for you that you have a rare gem: an Alfa that doesn't throw caution lights the moment it leaves the dealership. You're quite fortunate. Don't jinx yourself by making false claims that all Alfa's are reliable just because yours has been reliable. Statistics says "nope."

My coworkers wife has a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Q4 for just under 3 years as well with one minor service call for her HVAC system. His beautiful CTS-V on the other hand? You guessed it, way more service calls than his wife’s Alfa (2 tensioners, fob issues, parasitic drain issues, etc). Just because Car & Driver didn’t get their hush money from Alfa doesn’t mean it’s unreliable.

Exactly. Chevrolet issues are myriad but Alfa Romeo gets thrown under the bus in a thread that was for fun. Most of what I know about the Alfa reliability issues were for the first two years of the re-emergence of the brand in the U.S. (although not an expert). Everything works fine in my wife's car and it's three model years old...

There was much more than car & driver, but they had it the longest. To be fair though, their review was of a 2018.
I've known a couple people that have them too and said to stay away, same with jaguars. But in either case, my original comment wasn't intended to be a dive into alfa romeos reliability lol.

Personally, I have had zero mechanical issues with any chevy I've owned for a large number of years. Now, if you go back to the models from the early 2000s and earlier, yep. I did have an odd issue with a '18 GMC Sierra I had though; damn thing had a buggy head unit.
