AFM Disabler from Range Technology, does it cause engine problems?

Not sure this is in the right section, I do apologize if it’s not.

I was looking at this AFM/DFM Disabler product as I would like to disable the AFM on my ‘23 LT1. Just don’t like the car going from 4 cylinder to 8 all the time.

https://www.rangetechnology.com/prod...-dfm_disabler/

Has anyone else tried this? Does it work as advertised? What would the downsides be to it? Is it going to cause any engine problems, etc?

This car is my daily driver.

This part is a long shot, but I am also trying to get the car to idle louder, it honestly idles like a 4 cylinder =/. Guess this may be from me buying the LT1 and not the SS or ZL1 though.

Many of us have been running the Range AFM Disabler for years without issue, plus it leaves no fingerprint behind so if you unplug it no one can tell it's ever been used...

I've had one in my 2017 Corvette Grand Sport since day one. Never an issue. Just be sure to remove several cycles before if you have emissions testing in your area, and it's a good idea to remove before taking car to dealer for warranty work, etc. just to avoid that conversation.

I have had one in my 18 SS since the day I brought it home

No, it will not make your car faster, louder or drift better

Yes, it does exactly what they advertise, you plug it in and immediately stop seeing V4 mode

I bought mine before my car was built.
drove home from the dealer with installed.
ZERO problems with 3k miles on the odo.

eta: even in fulltime V8 mode I get 22-29mpg burning E0 93 octane

Very small benefits in MPG during certification... I agree, useless, but every little bit helps the manufactures' to make their numbers...

What are your thoughts about using a cheap version from Amazon? I just ordered one of these, I get it free in exchange for a review (except taxes). The AFM didn't bother me at first, but more & more I can feel it switching. Then I look down at the dash to make sure a check engine light didn't just come on or something.

just buy the range from range and be done with it

there's no other option if you like your warranty

Yep, buy the Range from Range… they have everything all ironed out. Spend the $ on a product that you know works. I’ve had zero issues with either of the two I bought….

We have had one on our 6th Gen and our late model 1500 for a few years now with no issues so far and the disablers work just as advertised!
