Drilled/Slotted Brake Rotors?

Does anyone make drilled and slotted front brake rotors for our cars?

Interested in this too. Wondering if it would help with brake dust.

I'm sure someone does and I'm certain there will be a number of people that say the factory rotors are good enough. Which I'm one of them....

As for brake dust.... no. Change your pads to something less aggressive like hawk pads but expect less braking performance but way less brake dust.

If you are tracking the car hard, you do not want drilled rotors. They will crack (and need to be replaced) well before an undrilled rotor. Plus you are giving up some thermal mass (not good). Slotted don’t seem to crack more often than not slotted, but again giving up thermal mass. neither slotted nor drilled will have any effect on reducing dust. That’s a function of pad material.

Slotted has some validity for escaping gasses, but like said above, drilled almost always cracks over the long run and doesn't do anything beneficial...except look cool. There's a reason why most of the high end stuff is solid, thermal mass.

This has been covered many times on this forum. No one makes drilled rotors that I have seen. But, Girodisc does make slotted rotors. https://www.girodisc.com/Camaro-ZL1-6th-Gen_c_3011.html

I would go with either slotted or OEM rotors for your ZLE.

Yes they make them but you usually end up getting a 1 piece setup however the 2 piece brake will still cool better. Now if you can get a 2 piece rotor that's slotted that is the way to go! you are more at risk for heat cracks though but not nearly as bad as drilled holes. Google companies that slot oem rotors or bite the bullet and do carbon brakes!

Girodisc makes a set of two piece slotted rotors for both the fronts and rears. The fronts use a non standard pad size that's slightly smaller than OEM as they couldn't create a rotor that saved weight with the same radial depth as our OEM rotors. If you are willing to use a SS 1LE pad shape on the fronts with the slotted rotors then that's definitely an option. The rears use the same pad shape as OEM but are several times more expensive than the stock one piece rotors.

Correct. Saw a Corvette with drilled rotors brand new crack them at Summit Point Main this summer.
