There's really no reason to go non-resonated in my opinion. The resonators don't make it any quieter, it just shapes the sound and takes some of the edginess out of the tone. Since these cars have an X-pipe, they already sound a bit edgy compared to an H-Pipe. I'm not saying the non-resonated would sound bad, it probably still sounds good, but the resonators just smooth the sound some and to be honest, it sounds absolutely amazing to my ears.

Interesting. When I contacted AWE, they said that the non-resonated was the way to go and the x-pipe is what smooths out the sound. He recommended the resonated only if I planned to do headers etc. (Which I am not planning to do)

An X-pipe will always sound raspier than an H-pipe, however an X-pipe makes more power. Take it from someone that went with the resonated touring exhaust, when you add headers, resonated or not, its going to be VERY loud. I even swapped out the smaller resonators that came with the AWE system to a much longer pair of resonators, it was still too loud which I had a feeling it would be since resonators do very little for volume. Ended up removing the resonators and replacing them with the Magnaflow X muffler which did the trick.

Gotcha. According to the AWE site…the resonated is quieter than the non-resonated.

Not enough to matter. Resonators have no baffling/packing in them, they only help to tame resonant frequencies by bouncing sound waves internally.

You would really have to have the cars side by side to hear that difference. For me I would add resonators if going with headers and if not then go non-resonated.

I have non-resonated and would like to add headers/tune but AWE is just on the cutting edge of getting some drone so headers would put it over the top and resonators would be a must. I don't mind super loud but can't deal with drone which is where Corsa excels. Other than that AWE is a awesome choice.

Related to the OP's question, mine has Kooks LT, green cats, and AB w/tiny mufflers w/o NPP, and I don't miss it.

I love that my Corsa NPP goes from Mild to Wild. Sometimes it's nice to be able to get out on the freeway and crank the tunes without fighting your exhaust sound level.

It would be more than just that, they need 2 separate muffler chambers and exhaust paths that the valves would "route" between. More work and investment than a single "180 technology" unit, but didn't look prohibitive to me as an outsider. Then again, I'm an outsider, so I accepted their stance and moved on.

If GM had designed theirs like the Hellcat, they wouldn't need two separate exhaust paths. The Hellcat has a butterfly valve in the intake exhaust path which opens to varying degrees depending on which mode the car is in.

I am staying with the stock can with the NPP. I am running 2" headers into 3" exhaust w/cats into xpipe into stock muffler. I have been receiving very good feedback on how it sounds. Barks when I want it, has a nice cam crackle at idle and cruises the highway like stock. No chance I am changing it.

Funny you said this, I have the AWE Touring and on the Highway can carry on a normal conversation and not even tell the car has an aftermarket exhaust. With the tunes blasting you really have to get on it to hear the exhaust. Outside the Car .... different story! I have had this System for roughly a month now and gotten nothing but praises from people coming up and saying .... Man, that sounds GOOD!
