DIY Laguna pipes
So yes I read the $20 Laguna pipes but not my cup of tea my ocd would not let me concentrate at the track knowing that's in the back of my car.
So did see some nice Laguna pipes being sold used and was wondering how did they make them or where did they buy them. I did speak to Trackspec autoworks which are know to make Laguna pipes and they said they need need the car to make them so there out of the picture. I was thinking an ordering four 2.5" steel 45⁰ elbows and figure out how to attach them to the oem suitcase. Any suggestions? |

Interesting… subscribing to see what you do.
Laguna Seca sound limits suck. Angled pipes are a good idea, wonder how much db it would shave off |

I always wondered, would pointing the exhaust at the ground reduce the db more.

Maybe... but just from experience typically anything making power with cutoffs or turndowns typically seems even louder, so not sure that would help. Pointing the "noise makers" away from the meter is likely the best way to ensure you don't break the sound limit. Pointing them down just usually makes it echo more from under the vehicle.

Jeff Cook, who runs the "Turn in Track Out" YouTube channel and used to have a ZLE, created Laguna pipes by just cutting the OEM tips and adding flanges so he could bolt on angled pipes for Laguna, and replace with OEM tips after. Inexpensive and 100% reliable solution, only negative was the modification to the OEM pipes but it's not visible unless you get under the car I think.

Just so you know, I blew sound at Laguna, with laguna pipes, on my bone-stock SS 1LE. I don't bother with them now...

Tagging for interest. There is a nice track 7 mins from me but I can't pass sound (96db limit). I'm looking at trying some pipes and see if that helps. Worse case there is a track (35 mins away) that has no sound.

That would work but if you use 3 bolt flanges like Jeff, maybe you could align the flanges and tips so you can just flip it to point 120 deg left or right depending on track when you bolt the angled tips on. At least then you don't need to worry about pipe shifting on slip fit clamp when you hit bumps. Clamp should work but fixed flange/bolts are 100%. That may be why Jeff used 3 bolt flanges.
