Need advice for new car
Hey guys, just sold my 2017 1ss auto and I’m looking for some car advice for a new vehicle.
I have a couple options in mind. -Cadillac CTS V2 sedan -C6 Z06 -5th Gen Zl1 -Boosted 5.0 Manual Now I’m not looking to get any of these cars in stock form. I would get the V with simple bolt ons and E since I saw one like this already, a heads cam z06, or a bolt on cammed 5th Gen ZL1. Or the boosted 5.0 The only car that I’m looking to get auto is the cts V sedan since they’re hard to find manual. I’m not looking to downgrade in performance either so which one would you guys recommend? Would the 5th Gen Zl1 be a downgrade or any of these be a downgrade? I had intake headers and e85 and I was really impressed by the speed of this car. The last thing I wanna do is to go into something slower. Would any of these in stock form lose to my bolt on 6th gen? Lmk on what you guys think about these options. Thanks |

I'd consider the Z06 depending on what year, mileage, and how aggressive the heads and cam setup is. Hard pass on the 5th gen ZL1 and boosted 5.0. As for the V, I'd never consider one with an automatic, they become boring quickly as I have heard from previous owners. I'd only take a V if it was manual. Also, not sure if you have purchased a highly modified car before, they can be a gamble.

C6 Z06 is by far the best choice.

Skip the 5th gen for sure, v for a comfortable fast car, c6 zo6 will be the funnest option here but only for a weekend car in my opinion. Buying a used boosted manual 5.0 is just asking for mechanical troubles.

Me personally I wouldn't buy any of them modified but if I had to have one it would probably be the Z06. Now if you had said boosted 10spd 5.0 I'd probably choose that over a Z06.

You could buy a Dodge. Seems to be a trend.

I still to this day wish I had a c6z. That being said I am done dealing with old car problems. But if I had to pick out of those, C6z for sure. It’s the hardest running NA car outside of anything exotic.

Honestly I'd choose V2. Or an SS Sedan.
Heads cam Z06 would obviously get you closer to what you're used in terms of performance. But the downgrade in tech a features aren't worth it imo.5th Gen's aren't impressive due to the weight and a nodded mustang is asking for trouble. |

IMO the correct answer is not on your list (maybe due to price?): 6th gen ZL1. But, since that wasn't listed:
C6 Z06 for speed and performance in a weekend fun type car. 505 hp in a <3,200 lbs package is no joke. The lbs/hp ratio isn't that far off a stock 6th gen ZL1. But, it's old and will show its age on the interior - but they still look great from the outside. However, a boosted 2018+ M6 GT 5.0 will be quicker still if done right, and a much better daily. So, it depends on what you want - a weekend cruiser type vehicle, or a daily with a lot of hp?

If I were to drop what I consider "dumb money" I'd look to the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk. Big HP and a bunch of buddies for a road trip or big HP as a daily driver.

Buddy of mine picked up a used ctsv manual several years ago and fixed it up. Was his favorite DD car and I would agree vs the others you list.
For a weekender the z06 wins in my book. |
